Go to a salon!! Never do it yourself!! I know there are so many that do but it's so bad for your hair!! Stylist know what product/developer to use that is better than any box color!! Now if you just can't stand the thought of a salon then at least buy from Sally's and get them to help you find what you need. Still not a great option but better than any box from the grocery store! Oh and if you want to lift your hair color (go lighter) def dont do it yourself!!! Turns orange 90% of the time!!

In your picture, your hair looks very dark. I would suggest you try using Garnier's "Nuttrisse ultra color." it's specifically made for dark hair. They have a few different browns, reds, and light brown/blonde colors. Keep in mind, red is a high maintenance color. And since your hair is so dark, if you decide to go blonde, there is a huge chance it will come out a brassy orange color. if you wanted to dye it a bright unnatural color, you have a few drug store options. Splat dye comes with bleach and a big amount of the colored dye. The bleach is really harsh, and it leaves a lot of damage. the colored dye is extremely vibrant, but the purple ones tend to turn magenta. AND they are almost impossible to get out, but you can dye over it. If those options aren't what you're looking for, try going to a beauty supply store like Sally's. the workers there will completely guide you with whatever you need.

I just had my friend dye my hair blonde from the bleach from sally's and at first we highlighed it and a week later she decided she wanted to fix it, but all of my hair... well, now my brother asked me if I was trying to be the girl slim shady. going blonde when you're a dark color hair is quite difficult. I'm going back dark now. -.-

Ya never use a box die from a grocery store. i agree with whitney 100%. Alot of people dont know why box dies are so bad for your hair look into it youll be shocked.

I always dye my own hair, it's a bit hardwork if you're on your own doing it but once you've done it a few times its not that bad! I've never had any problems *touch wood* and it's sooo much cheaper than going to a salon

I suggest going to the hairdressers to be safe, to get better results and because the colour will last longer, home colour kits are rubbish, they never turn out like you want and the colour fades too fast, even though it will be more expensive it will be worth it in the long run if you go to a reputable hairdressers. @Zaharh I dye my own hair at home ALL the time! It's easier and way cheaper, plus you ain't have to sit in the salon chair for hours! I've been doing my own hair forever! It's simple, easy & quick!! As long as I've been doing my own hair I have yet to run into any problems.

Ahhhh, I'm completely done with this convo, I suppose everybody has their own opinions.
I'm just saying what is the harm in trying it 1 time if you don't like it then go to a salon and have it done professionally
