BB cream or foundation for school?

I think that depends on what you are looking for in a product. BB creams tend to be a lighter coverage where if you are looking for more of medium to full coverage certain foundations are going to achieve that look.

For my everyday makeup I wear BB cream. It looks natural, gives coverage, hydrates and has SPF. You choose whether or not to use a primer so it can be a one step thing! Very fast & looks great. The best BBs I've tried are Korean or Japanese.
