Bet she's just jealous!! Ask her to show you in your contract or hand book where it says you can't dye your hair, pretty sure there won't be anything there!!

Ahahah I just was checking my account and this conversation popped up. I died my ends red also and millions of girls were doing it and out of everyone me and Angel D. Got sent to the office bc the teacher didn't like us. Also they let the volleyball players do it too and not us? Thats not right. It's our hair. I say if you can get another job you should complain about it and stand up for yourself bc thats stupid.

U need to ask your boss why the colour of your hair makes any difference to you doing ur job does it affect your work?? I'm sure it doesn't, they r being ridiculous. But don't walk, let them know u feel but be professional.

that is RIDICULOUS, especially for your profession. Something as superficial as hair color would not affect the care you are providing, so that is seriously crazy talk by your boss. I would be scoping out new jobs in the mean time because he/she sounds unreasonable/hard to work for!

Dye it auburn, it will tone it down an she can't say a thing( it is a natural color)! You should also say something if she has ever dyed her hair, and be like uh you wouldn't want to change your hair color would you?

this is dumb, I work at SUBWAY and im allowed to have obnoxiously red hair! my boss hasn't said a word, heck she smiles everytime one of our customers compliment it! (:
she even let me have pink. Your boss should be able to tell you that you can't have that color hair.

Hah. I had pink hair when I worked at subway too. I've had pink in my hair for three years now. I would quit.

Unfortunately in a lot of professional environments, other than natural is still not allowed :( While it doesn't have any impact on your abilities, management sees it as a discredit to a professional appearance and a discredit to your judgement. I am not saying that it IS in fact solid proof to your sound judgement or lack thereof, but it LOOKS to others that way. And unfortunately if it is a private practice they could potentially fire you for it whether it's written in the policies or not. Doesn't make it right, but legal none the less. So, if you do not need the job, walk. :) I remember when nose piercings where still hugely taboo and a mono anywhere other than a record store and Hot Topic didn't exist yet. Now they are commonly accepted every where practically but Wall St. Sigh. We have come so far and yet have so far to go...

I had obnoxious red hair at SEARS and everyone higher up from HR, to the DM actually complimented me on it. I work in the back but still. I've had pink ombre (now faded), and no one has said a word. Burgundy is not even obnoxious, and fades quick, so after a while it'll look like a reddish brown/cherry cola. I could see if you did like blue or pink.

I'm an orderly in a retirement home and I can dye my hair what ever color I want. I can NOT have tattoos showing and No facial piercings except the nose. I have to wear scrubs everyday or I can't work. I would think that if you were a doctor like MD. then that would definitely apply but Burgundy hair is no big sweat. Do you wear scrubs to work at all? Or have a medical uniform? Because what Alisa D. says about the dress code makes a lot of sense.

Just keep in mind if you do try and fight the hair color thing they an find any other reason to fire you it doesn't just have to be about your hair color.

Wow, your boss is an ass. I like the wig idea. Time to look for a new job, bet she's awful about other stupid things as well.
