How do you guys feel about colored contacts? I've been getting bored of my hazel eyes lately and was wondering if you have any tips, advice, opinions, etc. I was thinking a green or a grayish blue color would go good with my naturally red hair. Please help!!!

Green or grayish blue would look nice. I've ordered contacts from pinky paradise.com before and they're super cute.

Honestly, if you don't already need contacts to see, I wouldn't fool with it. I do need them to see because I'm blind as a wombat...but I wish I didn't have to wear them. If you've ever gotten an eyelash stuck underneath one, put one in backwards by accident, fished one out of the back of your eyesocket (yeah, literally), put in a scratched or broken one...you'll know what I'm talking about. It's not worth the aggravation just to change your eye color, IMO.

It depends on how old u are. It's terrible for u if u are young. Hazel eyes are beautiful though.

I have done all of the things Stephanie listed and they SUCKED. Worst feeling ever. I love all of my costume contacts though. Be sure to see an optometrist first to be fitted, not everyone can wear plano lenses. Also, if you are in the US, by law you must have a prescription for any type of contacts. This means that domestic (legal) colored contacts are very expensive. I buy mine from overseas, but be careful when ordering from foreign stores. I have had no problems with Honey Color (for circle lenses, which are a whole other animal than regular contacts) and YouKnowIt (big selection and fast shipping, based in the UK).

I talked to my optometrist before buying any, and he said that I am able to wear "standard" contacts because of the particular shape of my eyes and the fact that I don't need any correction. They are only dangerous if used improperly, which is why anyone looking into it NEEDS to see a doctor first. I have been wearing costume contacts for years now with no problems at my annual checkups. It's all about safety though.

They are a bit of a commitment though. There's the cost of the appointment (varies based on insurance), the cost of the lenses ($30 and up), the cost of solution (varies), a case ($2 or so), and eye drops if you want to wear them longer than an hour ($3 or more). Plus the time it takes to clean them properly; inspecting them each time for tears, bends, and debris; and the learning curve for putting them in and taking them out. It isn't an easy thing to get used to.
