I have a fair/medium skin tone, soooooo I bought a dark red and it's not really working at all. So what shade is good for me 💋

Depends on your undertone. But if you can't decide, it's a pretty safe to go with something called "true red". It's more on the neutral side - not too orangey, not too blueish.

I'm not sure about your price range but nars released a "pure blood" coloured lipstick called fire down below. The shade compliments every skin tone.

You could always try it as a stain or blot it out and use a lip gloss to give it less oomph. Check out the video Lisa Eldridge did that is a Lip Colour Four Ways (or similar wording can't remember exact title). She shows how to wear Tom Ford's Black Orchid which is quite gorgeous but a medium dark purple-red from a stain all the way to how to apply it full on. Don't be afraid of colour! She also has great videos on red lips.
I honestly wear any red any time. Skin reflects all the colours in the rainbow, even "yellow" skins reflect blue light so blue reds work on them too (and contrast is a GOOD THING, otherwise you'd look dead.) so why not wear a contrasting colour on your lips? (Just the thoughts of an artist on red lipstick).

I have a fair/medium skin tone and I cannot do darker reds because it just doesn't look right. The lighter, brighter reds look amazing! Also if you find it too bright or a bit too much you can always blot untill you like the look.

MAC's Russian red is my favorite red lipstick, they also make it in a lipglass form too.

standard bright red works for everyone, however it can make your teeth look dirtier if they are not perfectly white!
