They are expensive and take a lot of upkeep. If she does go through with it, get it done by a trained specialist, not by any schmoe in a salon. Anyone working that close to the eye should be licensed. There is an article on Makeup Geek that goes into much more detail, if you'd like to pass it on to her. (I would link it but I am on my mobile and can't browse the web at the moment.)

don't do it.I did it myself and my own eyelashes got thin and weak.never again.Really hard to wash your face too since the fake extensions poke your eyes.Try something like lilash or latisse to grow your own lashes.good luck!
