I put bag balm on dry spots at night, it's like Vaseline, but I'm pretty sure it has better stuff in it, I do bag balm masks on my feet sometimes but I haven't done it on my face yet

I keep hearing about these things Marilyn but a) if its in so many things, right from being a baby, then no one is really at much more risk than anyone else and b) I also read something somewhere about how the European law means that the petrolatum has to be traceable right the way back to ensure that it's safe or something, but I couldn't really concentrate properly on what I was reading at the time cos my attention span is horrendous so that may be a bit wrong or completely untrue, but there was something regarding that! Lol x

I do this after my shower at night. at first I tried regular moisturizer which did nothing but break me out. then I tried coconut oil which was nice it just didn't last that long. Vaseline lasts all night. I get maybe a pimple once everymonth or two now. I have super super dry skin and this helps a lot.

It took me a long time to get off mineral oil products. I used baby oil to shave and moisturize. Do you know that mineral oil strips fake tans? I've watched it come right off while shaving. That, to me, is a bad sign. Baby oil should be gentle, yet it strips color off your skin. Doesn't sound safe to me, so the baby oil went in the trash and I'm done with mineral oil.

I saw a girl on YouTube talking about her skin care routine cos her skins lovely after it used to be really bad. She takes her makeup off with Vaseline and rubs a bit of pure witch hazel into her skin and that's literally it and her skin is amazing. I tried taking my makeup off with it last night... Not the easiest thing ever, but I got there eventually and it did manage to get it all off without using anything else. Left my skin feeling really soft!

you guys.. it is a total myth that it clogged your pores! if you put a moisturizer on before Vaseline it will lock in the moisture.... it won't make you super oily and wot clog anything

It doesn't make me break out. I always have a few little spots but it doesn't make them any worse, I'd say if anything they're a bit better. It's non comedogenic which means it doesn't block pores. It's just forms a barrier that protects your skin, I can't see why that would be a bad thing. If it doesn't work for some people then it doesn't, but it does for me and for a lot of other people. The people who say its a bad idea are normally people who haven't tried it anyway cos they think its gonna make you break out x

It doesn't seem to really get all over the pillow. I'm sure it does, but not noticeably cos its clear and hasn't got much of a smell. Maybe lay a towel or something over your pillow? And put your hair up!

Unfortunately Madi there isn't nearly enough empirical scientific studies on beauty products or remedies. What few things are published are vague and often alarmist: "Vaseline causes cancer!" "There's lead in lipstick!" etc. There needs to be a significant scientific discussion about the products that people are using on their face and body.

Also, I wouldn't be put off just because it is banned in the EU; the EU has banned several things that other major nations/unions have deemed safe and vice-versa. A lot of product bans are more politically/economically motivated than consumer safety concerned.
