Hello bambinos! Just wondering if anyone who is already working as a freelance makeup artist in the UK could give me some advice?
I've been posting pictures of my makeup looks and have gained a fair bit of interest from people I know or know of wanting me to do their makeup. I'm offering to do it for free, because I haven't got a lot of experience in doing other people's makeup (so much harder than doing my own!) and can't just go charging straight away of course.
Anyways, obviously at some point I would like to start charging if it all went to plan... Do I need any sort of license? Public liability or something? I don't know if that's necessary or just recommended? Also do you have to declare it as income and pay taxes when it's just now and again? I know nothing about this side of things, hoping someone could just tell me anything I need to know!

If you want to be legit, you have to claim some of it as income... if it's your only income, you're paying rent, food, etc. with it... it's income. Makeup artists around the world don't necessarily have to be licensed but it is a VERY good idea to take classes and learn what you need to know about makeup. It's all universal hun, Research is key!
