What ingredients should you watch out for when buying hair products like shampoos and conditoners?

The only thing I try to stay away from are sulfates (detergents) and dimethicone (silicone). Silicones are used in conditioners and serums to add a layer of silicone to the strands to make them feel soft and shiny when in reality your hair is dry underneath. It can also prevent your hair from getting moisture because of that barrier. Silicones isn't easy to wash off. That's why I use a clear shampoo like Neutrogena to cleanse my hair of product buildup.
