Can you over blend your foundation?

I ask because I feel like I might be over blending. Or I am doing something wrong. I have a few very nice foundations and it seems like they all look as if they are starting to separate and look grainy(for lack of a better word) from the start. Could this be from overblending?

The only thing over blending would do is wear off your makeup but I don't think it would make it grainy
