Fantastic formula & pigmentation, color selection could be better
I think the general consensus on this palette falls into a few camps: 1) formula is nice, color selection is confusing 2) formula is nice, too many repeat shades 3) palette is too expensive for a multitude of shades ND has done before.
Truthfully, I agree with most of those critiques – my biggest caveat for this palette is that it still needs more variety – the golds (Penny & Fuse) and the two blues (Enigma & Symbol) are far too similar, and a few plum, magenta, and taupe shades would've really spiced up the fall aspect of this palette. And I would've loved a forest green shimmer to accompany Royal. Additionally, if you have Sunset & Gold, I'd skip this unless the different colors are really different enough to catch your eye.
Despite those cons, I honestly highly recommend this palette, even enough to give it 5 stars. The formula is excellent, and ND has gotten so close, if not perfecting the cream-to-powder formula. It is easy to build up and blend out, and in my opinion serves as the base for a number of gorgeous eye looks. If she had taken a variation of the mauve and burgundy tones from Lila and put it in this palette over some of the other duplicate shades this palette would be even more fantastic in my opinion.
The metallics are her standard quality with Mace, Noble, Jubilee and Crest being some standout favorites of mine. I have noticed fallout with the gold shades on the left side of the palette, but not too bad. I also find the quad format is a lot of fun in pushing me to use different looks than my usual fare, such as more editorial looks with Noble-Jubilee-Symbol-Imperia, or sticking to a neutral look with Enigma-Pure-Antique-Helena (with Enigma serving as a liner with a pencil brush).
Overall, I've had a lot of fun with this palette, and I don't regret getting it. If you're really hesitant, I would definitely wait for a sale, then even w/the similar shades it's a good palette for the money. But it's definitely going to be a staple of my collection.37 found this helpful.Hanh P. Oct 22, 2019
Perfect for the Natasha Denona Newbie
I agree that there are repeat shades, that the palette is expensive, that there needs to be more variety in the shades within the palette, but even knowing that, I bought the palette anyway. I don't regret it.
If you don't own any other Natasha Denona palettes like me, then this is perfect one for you. The pan sizes are not gigantic like in her other palettes - it's just perfect. I love the 20's Gatsby color story. I can create a multitude of looks with just the palette or even more when I combine it with some of my other palettes.
The shades perform beautifully and I love working with them. They blend together well, layering on top to make different interesting colors which makes this palette even more versatile. I wish there were more of those lovely matte shadows in here. They are the star of the palette for me, even over her gorgeous shimmers.
Who is this not for? If you own all her other palettes, then I would pass on this. There will be so many dupes if not exactly the same shades from her other palettes that I don't think it justifies the price tag. Unless you're a collector or you want to use this as a travel palette (perfect size).
I don't have any of her other palettes, but using this one has made me much more curious to try more of her brand. If that was her intention and market, then I think she succeeded! At least with me :)20 found this helpful.Felicia B. Dec 02, 2019
I absolutely love this palette! This is by far my favorite, and I own gold, biba, and sunrise. I was hesitant given the appearance of similar shades but i don't care! There are slight differences and the formula, wow! I am glad I watched KinkySweat's review because she helped explain the color story and how to view the shades like a 4-quad palette. This has helped me create multiple full proof looks. If I could only have one palette (any brand) this would be it. Don't pass it up!12 found this helpful.Kara H. Oct 28, 2019
My New Favorite
This is Natasha Denona on a whole new level of excellence! This is my new favorite eyeshadow palette. Whether you enjoy lots of color or stick to a more natural look, this palette has it all. The pigment is great and all the shadows blend like a dream...per usual with ND shadows. I’ve never been disappointed with Natasha Denona, so I knew I would like her newest creation, but I am very impressed! Sure, she is somewhat pricey but I insist her products are well worth the extra coin. P.S. I also would like to add that Beautylish is wonderful! From the easy to use shopping experience to the personal attention given to each package, I am always left feeling like I am their most important customer. Thank you to Beautylish customer care for always making my shopping experience exceptional. Your hard work and compassion is evident.10 found this helpful.Maddie M. Nov 13, 2019
Don’t let how this palette looks online fool you! The layout and colors of it were intimidating to me at first but I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I finally purchased it. As soon as I swatched all of the shadows, the colors inspired me so much! And I was very pleased with how it was packaged and shipped, as always with Beautylish!! Definitely one of my new faves.7 found this helpful.Michelle F. Nov 22, 2019
THIS is what I've been missing out on?!
WHAT in heck took me so long, I couldn't fathom spending 129.00 on eyeshadow BUT PMG got me so it opened my eyes for certain. When this palette was being teased and then my girls Alicia (kinkysweat) and Mel Thompson reviewed and demonstrated the palette. I was a goner then, these shadows are incredible. NOW I know what I've been missing! I raved so much a cousin who'd been gifted the sunrise palette gave me her's because she just isn't using it? OF COURSE I took it! and have used it TONS. Anyway, if you are on the fence about spending the money on ND shadows get off the damn fence and grab one. I don't have loads of money coming in but I can pay the flex that beautylish offers AND I can save my dollars and buy giftcards to have the money on hand to purchase. Yes, these shadows are THAT good. As always beautylish made the purchase a literal dream. The care they take with their pkg is impeccable and SO luxe. I prefer beautylish over ANY other retail point.6 found this helpful.Chelsea O. Feb 09, 2020
My first Natasha Denona purchase and I don't know how to feel. I guess I fell for the hype because with this price I just expected more. The regular shadows are nice. What I would expect from them. It's very heavy on the orange and browns which leaves you limited. For the amount of shades I find you are really only gonna get about 5 or so looks. Also I dont understand the lack of highlight or cream matte shades. Now for the cream to powder shadows that's a love hate relationship with me. If you want just one shade to swipe across the lid and maybe a little something in the crease they are nice. They really dont mix well with other shadows. As soon as you try to blend into another color they go muddy and brown/grey. I also find they need a good primer and a bit of building up to really look nice.I absolutely love them for a liner or wing. I was surprised how well and long they wear so that's great. In all I do think its okay but nothing amazing. If you are willing to work with the shadows and don't mind the limited color selection or price go for it.4 found this helpful.Belinda E. Aug 23, 2020
Ok so this was totally out of my budget. Thank God beautilish has flex pay. I was so excited when I got home to play with it. I have been staring at it for months. I’m so glad I purchased. I have worn three days in a row and I get a ton of compliments. The pallet offers neutral colors and bold dark colors. My favorite colors are the deep dark blue. They make my eyes look beautiful.3 found this helpful.
