Beauty Product Reviews

I really wish I liked this

I'm a freak for Nars products and I really did want to love this. People have raved about the Illuminators, particularly Copacabana for its versatility, so I picked it up a few weeks ago when I stopped in Sephora. Now when I swatch it on my hand it looks amazing. The shimmer is dramatic, but soft and not full of chunky glitter particles and it's a very long-wearing product. But when I use it as a highlight on my face or my eyes it's not just a nice glow anymore...it's a very cool toned pink shimmer. I look sick no matter how little product I apply. I'm quite disappointed that I can't wear it because I really don't want to return it. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll come out with a pale golden pearl shade that I'll be able t o exchange for. I just can't work with the cool pink tones in this :(

Definitely worth checking out!

I choose the "swatch" of Creme Brule because that's my favorite, but I actually have ten that I've picked up over the last month. As with a lot of drugstore products, they're hit and miss. Some, like Creme Brule, Sugar Plum and Cotton Candy, are lovely while others, like Cupcake and Gum Drop aren't so great. But the really good ones are worth it. Most--particularly the lighter ones--are effortless and I can apply them without a mirror, just like any other lipbalm. They're creamy and moisturizing with just enough color to look put together but not overdone. I've been wearing these pretty much exclusively since I bought them, leaving all of my other lipsticks and glosses to sit alone on my makeup shelf. I'm quite happy that I found these. They're incredibly convenient and low maintenance products and I love that I can just throw a few in my bag for touchups on the go. I think they're definitely worth checking out!

My absolute favorite!

I have six of these: Brousse, Charade, Earth Angel, Kalahari, Nouveau Monde and Taiga. I have to say, out of all of the eyeshadows I have--singles, palettes, everything--these are my absolute favorite! I have yet to find one that I wasn't completely in love with. The pigmentation is amazing, the texture is fabulous, they blend like a dream...I just can't get enough. The only (minimal) issue is with fallout on some of the more glittery shades (Kalahari and the pale white gold shade in Taiga), but they're still fantastic. And some of the color combinations are so unique and unexpected, but they look absolutely perfect together. I plan to pick up at least three or four more from the permanent line of duos and I can't wait for more limited edition shades. These are truly great products to have.

The best the drugstore has to offer

When it comes to oily skin it's difficult to find products that really work. Between looking natural, controlling oil and avoiding breakouts it's not an easy task finding a foundation, but this one really is fantastic. The shade range is decent, especially for a drugstore brand, although the majority of them seem to be cool toned, especially the lighter shades (which doesn't work for me at all). And the formula can be a little tricky to use, given that it dries fairly quickly and has a tendency to look cakey. But overall this is a great choice, if you find the perfect method of application that works best for you--for me it's either a damp sponge for light/medium coverage or a duo fiber stippling brush followed by a quick pat down with the damp sponge for heavier coverage. Colorstay really lives up to its name because it will stay ALL day. I do prefer my Makeup For Ever Mat Velvet over this, specifically for the color range as I do need a fair, yellow-toned foundation to match perfectly for the majority of the year. But this is certainly a staple in my collection during the summer months when I can grab the Colorstay in a darker, warmer shade. Overall a 4/5 and definitely recommend all my oily skinned girls try this out. It's well worth it.

Amazing

I've had my Naked Palette for almost a year now and I'm still just as much in love with it as the first day I got it. The texture of these colors is absolutely amazing--so buttery smooth and a dream to blend--they're almost flawless, but there are some fallout issues with one or two of the shades. Usually with a ready-made palette like this one I find myself unable to wear at least a few of the eyeshadows, but with the Naked palette I can play with all twelve colors and love each and every one. Urban Decay is consistently one of the best brands for eyeshadow and this palette pretty much speaks for itself. Gorgeous shades, incredible quality and a reasonable price (when you consider what you're getting!)

Lovely colors and perfect for Summer

I have two of these--Nice&Natural and Peaceful Pink--and they're both divine. The packaging is little bulky and unnecessary, but the product is very well worth it. They have SPF, they're conditioning and they look very natural on my lips. They have a very smooth consistency and the finish is almost satin-like. Like other ladies have said, they do tend to dry after a few hours, but I tend to reapply often anyway because I love them so much. Peaceful Pink is probably the only think I've worn on my lips all summer. They layer very well over and under both lipsticks and lipglosses, so they're very versatile. The only negative, for me, is the packaging. Potted lip balms are a hassle and the size of this particular container is a little silly, but overall for $3 you really can't beat these products.
