Lord Maclean's go-to!

I'm a big fan of John Maclean, & I had noticed that he uses this in nearly all of his videos, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's moisturizing without being too thick, & absorbs quickly (though I have very dry skin, so it may be different if you have normal or oily skin). I often use serums, & my concern with creams is that they'll do that weird thing where it leaves a film on your skin even hours later, that sort of 'balls up', if that makes sense. But this doesn't do that, it absorbs very well. That being said, it's not only good for nighttime use, but also works well under makeup. With the weather getting colder where I am, it's perfect for when I need a bit of extra moisture during the day without making my makeup difficult to apply or slide off. And the price is really no different than many drugstore creams-since it also gives you the option of getting a small size for $10, I'd say give it a try if you've been wondering about it!

Good for very dry skin

As it's gotten colder, & I'm using heat in my house, my already very dry skin was really getting bad in areas to the point where it was peeling in some spots. This has definitely helped calm those areas, the redness & flakiness has gone away. That being said, I would only suggest this for those with very dry skin, as it is a VERY rich moisturizer, & I see this as being more of a night moisturizer for most people. Even with my dry skin, it's a bit too much for use under makeup. I like to use it in conjunction with a thinner serum; I'll use a thinner serum underneath, & then this overtop keeps me hydrated throughout the night.

Unique color story, lots of options

I'm a big fan of Shane Dawson, but I still said I'd only buy the palette if it was something I'd actually use, & wow, it surely does not disappoint! The color story is really unique, & I love that it gives you a good variety of neutrals with pops of color, as well as a good balance of mattes and shimmery shades/metallics. Also a good variety of colors to make anything from a subtle, natural look, to a dark smokey eye. The formula is soft & blends out very easily even on my dry skin. I love that it has plenty of transition colors, besides the neutral ones, I absolutely love using Cheese Dust or Pigment as crease colors. Ranch is a great browbone or inner corner highlight, it's not overly frosty. Food Videos is kind of dry, & Tana Con has more fallout than I'd expect from a shade like that. But overall they're still beautiful colors, & I would say Not A Fact & Sleep Paralysis are my 2 Favorite in the palette!

This has to be the most perfect palette ever!

I'm someone who wears mattes the vast majority of the time, & this is just perfect for me. The formula is so smooth, & blends like a dream & so effortlessly. I have very dry skin, & I'm in my late 30s, so my eye area isn't as tight as it used to be. Sometimes blending mattes wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world for me. But these just go on so easily & I feel like I can create a look in much less time. It has a great array of colors-plenty of options for transition shades, whether you want something more warm, neutral, or cool, subtle or dramatic. It's sleek and compact, & very versatile, so it'd be perfect to travel with. The pigmentation is outstanding, & I think that the undertones & color selection would work with many different skintones. I know it's expensive, but it's the type of thing that will last a long time, & that you'll use a lot, so I think it's definitely worth the price!

More versatile than I'd originally expected

When I first saw this palette, I thought it wouldn't be for me-I very rarely wear bright colors & usually stick to mattes. In person though, when I really looked at it, two thirds of the palette is matte, it's really only the middle row that isn't, &overall, it's a pretty neutral palette. I LOVE warm neutrals, you can mix the coral-y shades with some of the more neutral browns to warm them up, or they also look very flattering used as transition shades with either colorful or neutral looks. They also look beautiful on their own for a single color look. The middle row, which I was iffy about since I'm not into glitters, surprised me-it's the type of formula where it looks glittery in the pan, but once you apply it, it almost looks more like a foil, like you really don't see big chunks of glitter. It's a nice option to have for when I want something more dramatic, or perfect for just tapping a bit on the center of your lid with your finger. I think the richness of the texture of the center row shades combined with having enough medium and dark shades make it a palette that will go into any season. I think the formula is very nice as well, it's smooth & blends easily, & has little fallout.

Perfect balance of fun and practicality

At first glance, I thought this wouldn't be a palette that I'd really be into-I think being that it's called 'Alien', and my eye went straight to the bright shades, I figured it wouldn't be a very practical palette for me. However, seeing it in person, it really is far more versatile than I had realized. Really the majority of the shades are neutrals or earth tones, so it's something that a lot of people could get use out of everyday. But, they're not just boring neutrals or earth tones that everyone has already. They're more unique & unexpected, and then you have a wide range of textures and then the pops of bright color for those times you want to either add a little color, or do a full on bright look. I think that being said, it would be the perfect palette for traveling with-yes it's large, but it's pretty flat so it'd be easy to pack, it gives you a wide array of possibilities, and it has a nice size mirror. The formula is great as well, nice & smooth, very easy to blend, & very pigmented. The matte purple shade was a tad dry, however purples are notoriously difficult, especially mattes, & it's such a gorgeous color that it's worth the little bit of extra that you have to work with it.
