Beauty Product Reviews

Love my pink dit dots!

I have used a product similar to this for many years now (Mario and Kate Somerville, just to name a few). I have gone through stages of mild, severe, and now rare acne. But through all the trial and error of picking a product to combat pimples, this one really is just the best. In case you're not aware, you take a q-tip, dip it all the way to the bottom (without shaking the solution!) and then 'dit dot', as I call it, on the offending blemish(s). Yes, it looks odd, my boyfriend doesn't find it especially attractive, but it works (and now he uses it too). The reason why this one is better is because of the added camphor, which is a soothing agent not found in the competitors. It therefore dries out the blemish (sometimes in one night) but doesn't dry out your skin. It also calms he redness that goes hand in hand with the pimple. This works best on whiteheads, but can help bring down the swelling and redness of cysts. I don't find it particularly effective on blackheads, but that is not its intended use. It also is amazing on bug bites! Though I rarely get pimples now, this is a staple in my medicine cabinet, and always having it on standby is such a blessing if I do have a pimple pop up!

Multipurpose wonder

I lovingly call this my Unicorn Balm, because much like the mythical Unicorn, this stuff is magical and awe inspiring! I first picked up a tube at the beginning of the year because I did a short course of Accutane due to severe cysts on my cheeks. The Accutane did its job, but my lips peeled like a m*ther-f*cker and it hurt, I couldn't wear my beloved lipsticks, and it was kind of gross. This ointment was less goopy and weird than some other formulas I tried, but seemed to be more effective. Not only did it moisturize, it helped to heal the chapped desert of my lips. Now that I am past that stage, I still love it on my lips, but I also love it on my cuticles, on the lids of my eyes to create dewy-ness, on the occasional burn, on a cat scratch, and I make my boyfriend use it on his calloused hands. It is good, it is well priced, and lasts a long time. All hail Paw-Paw, the Unicorn of the world of balms.

Almost a perfect set for a non-artist

I have held out for a long time reading reviews about different brush sets in order to find the perfect set to invest in. I am not an artist, just a makeup lover, and I wanted to have great brushes to apply all that $$$ cosmetic with. I love Wayne's videos and when this set became available with the larger brush 1 (and the split pay options, if I am totally honest) I finally splurged and treated myself. I really, really love the set with only a few exceptions. As other reviews have stated, brush 1 leaves something to be desired. I Thought I would love it, and I still can't totally put my finger on why I don't, but part of the problem is it drinks up my foundation. It is such a waste. Now I use it to buff out the foundation after applying with my fingers. I won't bore you with a brush-by-brush analysis, but 1, 2, and 8 deserve mention. Brush 2 is the hero of this set in my opinion. It is a perfect, medium teardrop shape that I use for blush, highlight, powder, bronzer, everything! I have to get another. Watching the video really drove it home that this brush can do so much. In particular, it applies powder highlight in the most lovely, diffused way. Brush 8 is my second favorite because it it one of the stiffest brushes I have encountered. It is clutch for tightline and eye brow pomade application. I know there is a brow set out now, but if you only have the money to buy one of Wayne's sets, buy this one and use 8 for your brows. It grips the product wonderfully and let's you have he utmost precision. The other brushes are fabulous, though mostly eye focused. If you are hesitating, invest because they will clearly last you a lifetime with proper care.
