Beauty Product Reviews

It's amazing how powerful the internet is and how hyping up products can create such a frenzy. Contrary to what your favorite youtube beauty gurus/insta famous accounts/etc say, you do not need these eyeshadows in your life. They want you to believe that you can't be without any of Natasha Denona's products (per their free gifts of her products) but believe me, you'll be fine without them. Very unimpressed with the presentation of these eyeshadows, although I've come to understand that their dollar store packaging are mainly for makeup artists to simply through in their kits so there's one reason why it looks horribly cheap. This is being targeted to mass consumers, along with MUAs of course, so in the sense of me not being an MUA I'm terribly disappointed w/the packaging and that was one of the main reasons why I returned this product (and yes, I do own Z-Palettes but these eyeshadows are VERY fragile so you have to be extra careful w/them). The shadows are very pigmented, there's no doubt about that (very similar to another brand that is quite hyped on social media but worth only a fraction of a price of Natasha's eyeshadows), but looking at the ingredients of them I'm quite skeptical why they are priced so high. For the amount these shadows are, and especially the big ones worth 200$+, you would think you were getting high grade ingredients that would turn you god-like---but it's far from the contrary. I think it's time that we all start to question things before going out and throwing our money at every hyped product the internet says we simply cannot be without. I'm giving this two stars because I like the shade range and they do look lovely on the eyes. I might be interested in getting other Natasha Denona products but I won't be anytime soon.

Beautiful eyeshadow and liner duo

I bought this within the first hour on Charlotte's official website and I'm so glad to see it at Beautylish. This eyeshadow is so gorgeous and I love how easy it is to wear on the eyes. Simply just use your finger and layer it for more pigmented payoff. Without watching Charlotte's yt tutorials, I tried using a brush and that was an absolute fail. However, wetting your brush with this eyeshadow make sit POP! I love how Charlotte takes into consideration the lives of her consumers as she's always trying to find a way to simplify makeup and looking fabulous also. The liner is great, as per her RocknKohl line, and pairing them together is really gorgeous. You could even just wear the kohl all over your eye and smudge it out. Also, if you don't like glitter, you might want to use a light hand or maybe skip this product all together as there are glitter particles in the shadow and liner. It's not as visible if you layer it and the glitter really is only there to create a highlighting affect for the shadow on your eyes. I say, if you've a Charlotte Tilbury junkie (like me), try these shadows out. With your first swatch on your hand you might feel at odds with it (comes off patchy) but on the eyes these look beautiful, especially this color (which is great for Fall and upcoming Winter season!). Oily eyelids make sure you use a primer beforehand! Definitely will be picking up another!

not the softest brush but beautiful application

I'm a huge CT junkie and I just knew that I had to have this brush for my collection of CT products. I've seen it all over blogs, youtube, instagram---any social platform, you name it! I also watch CT's youtube channel like crazy, and her using this brush seriously has given me the biggest obsession with buying it. Now that I finally have it and have used it, I can make a real opinion about it.

1. Not the softest brush around, but gets the job done w/a beautiful application of product. 2. You can use this for multi-purpose needs---as a contour brush, highlight brush, powder brush for sheer application, set your concealer, etc. Lots of different uses! 3. The handle is literally roll-proof. As in, like most makeup brushes, you set it down really quick to do something else and all the while it suddenly rolls off the table. What an annoyance! With this brush, it stays exactly where you put it due to how the handle of the brush is constructed. Major kudos for that alone! 4. Beautiful packaging w/rose gold and burgundy, definitely makes you think of glamour and vintage. 5. All brushes are made differently---some are more tapered, some are more on the dome-shaped size. This can easily be seen after the first wash and your brush ends up not looking exactly the same as you first got it. ALL brushes go through this process due to the stiffness of constructing the brush and with usage it becomes more relaxed. Anybody who owns a MAC face brush can attest to this, especially the blush brushes. 6. Great grip when using the brush, you have much more control over the application of powder/blush due to how the handle of the brush is made. Unlike most brushes that are just slim and have no real grip power. 7. It's travel friendly. Slim enough to fit in most places! Very light weight as well. 8. It might be not the best brush if you have sensitive skin, as I pointed out that it isn't the softest brush on the market. If you do, be careful when using the brush. Light application against skin and then blend it softly using the side of the brush. 9. CT has engraved her name onto the handle of the brush, and I've seen some people comment that the gold engraving has faded over time. It's similar to MAC brushes whose engraving has been known to fade and completely disappear. I say be careful when using the brush, do not start using it after you've just put lotion on your hands or you've self-tanned or anything where moisture can get on that part of the brush. 10. The tip of the brush is perfect for getting that contour right where it needs to be on your face. Brushes like NARS' Ita is not everybody's cup of tea, as the application can create such a fierce line on the face. For those who don't want that dramatic look (all good if you do! I love my Ita brush!), with this brush you can not only build up the contour but it gives a light application (all depending how much powder you're using, pressure on face, etc etc). The brush fits perfectly in the hollows of the cheek and blends like a dream. Even after washing it a few times, it still is able to get in that are and create a beautiful contour.

A good tip is be careful what you're using to wash this brush! Products can really hurt makeup brushes if you've not careful in what you're using. The brush can easily start to wear out and not have the same structure nor feeling that it had before. This brush is not as soft so I wouldn't put straight makeup remover on it (quite harsh for this brush), something like Philosophy's Purity Made Simple. I've used it on my brushes for years and many in the industry use it as well.

Overall, very happy with my purchase. I give it four stars because of it not being like baby skin soft. But I do think this is a must to have in your collection!

great tomato red orange!

After buying Miss Kensington, I knew that I had to have 1975 Red! I was a bit iffy about it since I have such fair skin, I was afraid that it would make the redness in my face stand out even more---but what a mistake in thinking that was! It's a beautiful bright tomato red orange, perfect for summer and really all year long. Much more pigmented than Miss Kensington and one swipe gives great opaque coverage. I find that this lasts longer than Miss Kensington, too! Just like how I wrote in my review of Miss Kensington, I don't find this to truly be matte formula. It's very creamy and light on the lips, and the longevity is superb but I would rather say that this is a mix between a satin and a semi-matte lipstick. This is a great product and shade, I'd snag it while you can! Looking forward to CT releasing her whole line of Matte Revolution lipsticks here in the USA!

quick and easy to use if you're short on time!

I'll be honest and say that I really had never been into the hype of cream eyeshadows or shadows sticks etc because I have super oily and hooded eyes. I decided to take a chance and try this out since everybody and their moms seem to be talking about it. I love CT makeup so it wasn't really that hard for me to give in, but still, the chance that this could be a huge miss was on my mind. I used the NARS smudge proof eyebase first and put this sucker on and was both surprised and happy that it lasted as long as it did! It's a mouse-like creamy texture that at first comes off not as opaque but if you layer it, it will give you the pay off that really is so worth the price. The quality is great and I now have three of these in my collection. I've heard everybody talk about TF's cream eyeshadow pots but keep in mind that CT has worked with TF, so if you like TF makeup then it's not really a big stretch between them! I'm looking forward to more colors from her!

very nice pink for fair skin

Out of all of the products of the new collection, I had my eye on this for sooooo long to get (I waited for it to be on here even though she was already selling it on her webstore!). Seeing it reviewed online it looked like a very light-ish nude pink that would be great for my super fair skin. I was surprised to see the color in person, looked so much darker than what I thought. But when I put it on (one swipe is pretty sheer, need a few to be really opaque) I found that it turned into that pink that I wanted. I favor matte lipsticks being long lasting and chalk-like (like MAC's retro mattes etc that is a guarantee to stay on your lips for a long time without having to re-touch!), but I don't mind how creamy this is (shouldn't even call this a matte, to be honest?). Being a light color it's bound to show lines on the lips and whatnot (I don't see it really accentuating them), as that's how light lipsticks usually are due to their pigmentation. I don't base my rating upon that, but rather I love the color, love how it feels on my lips, like the longevity (I would say a few hours and then you need to re-touch), and being a CT product (I'm a junkie!) I'm happy with it. Not amazing, but I'm content with my purchase.

absolutely love it. i have hooded eyes and i tend to have a problem with eyeshadows not sticking to my lids because of it but with this it did pretty well staying on and looks great with eyeshadows or without! misty rock is a gorgeous color, and esp for fair skinned girls with light eyes it really brings them out and is very complimentary. i just put in another order of the ombre blackstars, that's how much i love it.
