Beauty Product Reviews

A+++

I was deathly afraid this oil would break me out, but on the recommendation of Mrs. Caroline Hirons, I took the plunge ... and well...I couldn't be happier. This oil is SO moisturizing without being thick or scented or pore clogging! My skin has really taken to it and feels so amazing! It is a slightly thicker serum/oil and it combines beautifully with anything and everything I've paired it with. It's also fantastic under my eyes for extra hydration. I bought the smaller size to be sure it wouldn't break me out and I will definitely be buying the full size when I go through this one! Highly recommend if you're looking for hydration and balance! My skin is literally glowing!

Beautiful Oil

This is probably my fourth purchase of this particular face serum. It is a heavier serum, but it performs beautifully in the areas of hydration and overall glow (at least for me). I have acne prone skin and this is one of the few "indie" luxury brands that doesn't break me out. I use the Mahalo Rare Indigo Balm, as well. I use it both am and pm in the winter months (here in Hawaii) and find it perfect. I will say, however that as with all indie/small batch brands, the consistency in the scent and color differs with each batch. For example, I recently purchased the Mahalo Balm and the scent is quite different than my previous purchase. Same goes for this, as my last purchase did not smell as strongly as this one does.

Love this - 5 Stars!

This is an absolute gem! It is NOT overly glittery or anything remotely over the top. I wanted something for shine and this product did that and more! It tamed frizzy hair and provided a really beautiful shine with a hint of sparkle!! Don't go overboard or it can be oily looking. Aside from using it straight from the sprayer, I also put it in my hands and rub them together and toussle it through my hair! Very unique and beautiful product (and it smells great, too!).

Loved, but breakouts thwarted the love...

I really wanted to love this, however it made me breakout. I'm pretty sure it's the sunscreen in it. I really do love the look of it on the skin, though..it's very "glow from within" and is medium coverage. It's a little hard to work with, as far as blending goes (texture is thick). You definitely have to work at it to blend it correctly. The shade is spot on for a neutral undertone and probably one of my better matches.

Oh why do I have to love expensive things...

So, this foundation is really beautiful. It's a natural finish that has worked well with all of my primers. I always seem to like the expensive foundations (LaMer..), so I wasn't surprised that I loved it..just didn't think I would like it so much. It blends well with either a sponge or a brush. I find that it doesn't crease or get cakey on my combo/dehydrated skin, but I will say that I find it wears best when I'm well moisturized and use a moisturizing primer. It doesn't sink into fine lines, seems to do well on my small-ish pores and the wear time on it for me (depending on primers) is about eight hours. I do find that it starts to get a wee bit patchy after the eight hour mark, but it touches up well with powder. It is a very expensive foundation and the shade range and matching abilities are so-so at best. I could probably have a near perfect match if I mixed two shades (Bisque is just a teeny bit warm for me if I have no tan), but I think the next shade down would be too light and the wrong undertone. Bisque is a warmer undertone vs a true neutral. I would almost recommend that you get shade matched in a department store, but if you're weak like me and a true Beautylish lover, it is extremely easy to exchange if you get it wrong the first time. However, the reason I took one star off is because I have several great foundations that I don't have to mix to get a great match and this one is honestly too expensive to need two for the perfect color (and clearly I'm not afraid of a high-end foundation purchase). It is beautiful and I will continue to use it, but I'm still on the fence about repurchase.

Multi-Use Product That is Beautiful!

I was really excited to try this, as I prefer a dewy finish on my foundation. The #3 was the perfect shade for my light-medium/neutral skin tone. It truly is a multi-use product and I pretty much use it in some way daily. I enjoy using it as a second (top) primer where it gives a beautiful glowing finish under my foundation. I also use it on weekends alone to just give me a bit of glow and blur out my skin. Finally, I use it as a natural glow highlight on top of my cheek bones and It's also really beautiful mixed with concealer and leaves a very moisturized finish (which I also quite like). The finish is really beautiful and natural looking. There is no glitter, just a beautiful glow. The consistency is almost a whipped moisture texture and it sinks into the skin like a dream. I will definitely be repurchasing and am considering trying another shade for fun! Highly recommend!

Fantastic Contour!

The color of this contour is perfect! It's not too cool, nor is it too warm. I was hesitant about using this as oppose to a powder like usual, but it blends like a dream with either a brush or sponge. It is so easy to contour with that I even think it would be good for beginners. The sole negative for me is the packaging (but I gave it five stars because the product itself is amazing!). The sponge tip applicator is a little wide, but doable, and you have to remember to twist it closed before putting the cap on or you'll have a mess. If you're really against the sponge tip applicator, I've also used a brush to get product from it and contour that way, too (especially for my nose). Overall, this is a definite keeper and I see myself repurchasing it in the future. It creates the perfect shadow effect for contouring.

Loving this product!

Brows are my weakness. I have very blonde eyebrows and have never really taken the time to master doing them and usually run a little powder through them and call it a day. I was excited to try this because it was so many products in one and I was hopeful about the formula. Well, the formula is great and goes on very creamy (which some people don't like, but for me it's just easier) and is easy to erase if you make a mistake. The ONE thing I wish it had was a spooley. Other than that, this is a one product miracle worker for brows!

Must Have For Acne Prone Skin

I am definitely a Sunday Riley fan and have used Good Genes and Luna for years (thanks Caroline Hirons!). I got this as soon as it released and it's been a staple in my skin care routine since that time. I have combo/dehydrated/acne prone skin that has its bouts of fits, especially in reaction to products that it doesn't like. This oil is beautiful, but is NOTHING like Luna. I think people make the mistake of thinking that it will produce the type of results that the HG combo mentioned above will. This product can be used as a spot treatment (which I do frequently), or if you are on the oily side it can be used as an all over face oil. I have never had any sort of dryness occur when using this over my entire face, but the time that I do is when I feel like my skin needs a bit of a reboot and if it's been acting out in more than one area. The smell is interesting, but not a turn of for me. It is a green oil, but it doesn't apply or look green on your skin. I tend to use this product overnight for the best results for acne. If I'm spot treating, I can use it during the day under the rest of my skin care, but I apply it to the spot I'm treating right after I tone and mist. I find that this keeps oil at bay and can help reduce and eventually eliminate acne problems on the skin. It's not for everyone and results aren't overnight (though I can slow a pimple down rapidly, depending on which stage I catch it in). I highly recommend this for anyone with acne prone skin or combo skin needing a treatment or a continuous product to help prevent acne. Aloha!

Pleasantly Surprised

As a makeup junkie and collector, I have been debating on trying these for well over a year now. I decided to bite the bullet and give the famous JS liquid lipsticks a try and I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the formula. I like my liquid lipsticks to dry down to a satin like finish and not be too matte and this formula is just spot on for me. I purchased Androgyny and Calabasas and both are beautiful shades. Androgyny pulls more neutral plum on me and Calabasas pulls a deep pinky-red, which is just gorgeous. I am looking forward to trying more shades and was pleased to hear that some of the LE shades are being put into the permanent collection.
