Beauty Product Reviews

A little disappointed

I ordered the full collection. And overall they are exquisite - so soft, perform beautifully, and have slight changes to well known brush silhouette s that make them unique and better than. The only brush I am not yet in love with is the teeny tiny liner, E6. This brush is unique because it is firmer than similarly shaped brushes (like rephr 29) - this was an advantage I looked forward to. However I found this brush is quite scratchy along the sensitive lash line. I even feel a poking sensation when pressing/stamping. I'm going to give it some more time - perhaps because it gets it's firmness from being so densely packed, it just needs some time to break in. There is no special pricing for the full set, so if you have sensitive eyes, you can buy all but the E6 individually.

Exquisite

I was so worried Wayne was quietly discontinuing his brush and makeup lines when most were not just out of stock but completely removed from the site during the gift card event. Relief when he posted his announcement a week or two later. Since I pre-ordered the collection, I got them quickly. There is no other way to describe these brushes but "exquisite." The whisper light, soft feel might even softer than the 7 WG squirrel brushes in my collection. What really sets this collection apart from every other natural fiber brush in my fude collection are the shapes, while some are familiar, there are slight changes that make all the difference in the way they perform. All of the brushes are so soft and apply and blend beautifully.

The stand out is the feel and performance of the F4. F4 is steely layered on the sides, but the top is perfectly flat. This brush will give you full coverage with less product (liquid, cream or powder) and precise placement with self blended edges because of the layered sides. A wonderful cream contour/bronzer brush. I will be getting another F4 so I can use for foundation and bronzer.

I also love the flat black ferrules and glossy handles. They are lightweight but still feel solid on hand. I also love the new WG logo. All on all, thrilled with this new brush collection - and the pricing is extremely attractive considering the quality and quantity in this full collection. You won't feel guilty about indulging yourself with this brush set. You deserve it!

All of the brushes (except one detailed below) are so soft and apply and blend beautifully. I'll discuss the stand outs:

The feel and performance is especially notable with E2 and E3. The sides of the 2 eye brushes start with short outer hairs and sharply layer upward/inward to the perfectly pointed tip. This means they blend as you lay down product, but so very lightly, so you have good coverage and an even, gradual blend from crease towards the brow. This works really well on my hooded deep set eyes. I usually have trouble with getting even transition shade above the crease. I didn't expect it, but E3 solved this problem for me.

Don't let her name fool you

This is the biggest, fluffiest brush in my collection. I was a little caught off guard by her size, especially after that first wash, when she really fluffed up. She is, as expected, well made, with a round ferrule and curvy, east-to-hold handle. "Detail" doesn't really fit her, though. I have a lot of space from my crease to brow, even with hooded lids. The super soft dyed and undyed goat hairs are longer than the height of my lashes to brow arch and at it's fluffiest, almost as wide as my corner to corner width. I won't be doing any detail work with this brush, but she is good for soft blending. She isn't very dense so blending can take a while, especially very pigmented or deeper shades. For example, in my experience she doesn't play well with PMG, which prefers a stiffer, more dense brush to blend well. I like to do a just few windscreen wiper over my finished eye look to blend it all one last time. She would also be good for setting eye primer, laying down a wash of color, or a one and done look (but perhaps only matte - a shimmer would cause a lot of fallout because of how fluffy it is). I recommend this brush, but just be sure you understand her capabilities when it comes to true detail work.

Perfection!

I love this hand cream. It is so rich and creamy with a delicate grapefruit scent that I can't get enough of. My dessicated hands drink up a dollop in no time and are left soft and supple without being greasy. I love this so much I sought out Caudalie's other moisturizers in hopes to find the same formula in a larger volume. Turns out the original body butter in the 225 ml tub (not the firming cream) has the same texture and scent. Now my whole body benefits from this ambrosia-like moisturizer and I don't have to restock every couple of weeks. I still buy this tube from time to time as it packs nicely for my frequent business travels. I love Caudalie - I have a ton of their skincare and bath & body products, but this delictable cream is my #1 favorite.

Goldilocks Approved

This is the story of a girl named Goldilocks and her search for the perfect every day palette. The Imperial Topaz palette was a little too warm for her taste. Moonstone was just too cool. But this new neutral Pearl palette is juuuusssst right!

The Pearl's formula is just as wonderful as the other two palettes - his shadows are intentionally not one stroke opaque pay-off, but they do build up to rich color in 2-3 layers and they are blendable. The standout is that taupe shade (#5) - it is so creamy, whereas the other shades in all 3 palettes are a more dry formula without being too powdery or stiff. #5 is a unique blend of grey, beige, and cool brown, with a touch of lavender. The pink (#3) is perfection - it is a neutral and soft pink shadow, not at all too blue or yellow or peachy. The rosewood shade (#4) was a pleasant surprise - it is perfect for deepening the crease and isn't as warm on the lid as it looks in the pan. When I first saw the pre-launch pictures, I was afraid this palette would be too similar to Topaz and Moonstone shades - like a best-of between the first two. Pearl's satin gold champagne (#2) looked very similar to #1 in Topaz and Moonstone, the rosewood seemed too close to Topaz #2 and 5, and the Pearl/Topaz celestials looked very similar as well. Fortunately, they are all different enough to not feel guilty for buying yet another shadow palette. The Topaz celestial has more gold sparkles while Pearl has more silver and rose gold sparkles. Rest assured that there are no repeats in Pearl. In fact, all three palettes compliment each other wonderfully, so you can mix things up for even more versatility. Now I have a good reason to use the first two palettes more without ending up on the far ends of the warm-cool spectrum.

I'm no blushing bride, but this is my new every day, work appropriate and weekend no makeup makeup look palette. Highly recommend!

PS: can we all just take a moment to appreciate Wayne's uniform packaging? I love that all of his palettes are in the same compact - it makes for a tidy cosmetic drawer. I always keep them in the same order so I know which one is which. Pearl is in now in front.

If you love the hand cream, buy this!

I love this body butter! I suspect that it is the same exact formula as the original hand cream. It has the same rich texture and same light citrus scent, only the price per volume is better with this tub-o-moisturizing-goodness. I've also tried the lotion with the pump bottle and the new firming body moisturizer. They're both OK but neither is as rich nor have this distinct scent that I love so much. If you like the original hand cream, you need this in your life.
