💯 👩🏻💻Recommend Wayne Goss' Makeup brushes
I'm a fan & have always been so I congratulate Wayne Goss on his latest brush line. I picked up this brush set & they are soft, wonderful! His original eye brushes are in my makeup brush rotation as the bristles are super gentle on my "older" delicately hooded eye area. However, all of his brushes are multi purpose. Think eye shading, lip definition, powder detail (buffing) or even bronzing. As you become familiar with his brushes, you will see how just a few great tools make a huge difference in applying your eyes, face, lips & skin. Cleaning these brushes is easy with a quick wipe on a soft microfiber towel. Wash as needed with a drop of Dawn soap, protecting the ferrule/bristle base from water. Anything abrasive will shred the bristles. Recommend.
Splendid Launch
I have most of WG brushes as well as Sonia G and the quality of this launch is on par with previous launches. WG brushes are thoughtfully visioned and well made. What I love about this set of eye brushes is the diversity of brushes. These brushes are different and apply shadow beautifully.
Game changing as always
Really surprised to see anyone review these brushes as anything less than exceptional. Yes, the brush tips themselves are white, but frankly it's a great change from black and you can see what risidual color is left over so you don't accidentally muddy application. They are so precise and I highly recommend watching Wayne's YouTube on what each brush is for, it has made a huge difference in my application especially for a hooded eye. They precision of these brushes are incredible. Especially E2 & E3. I LOVE E1 for all blending, it does all the work and leaves everything seamless. I think these are FANTASTIC!!!
Not So Special
I don’t particularly like white bristled brushes but thought I’d give this set a try since it was touted as being softer than air, if not like silk. Well, lesson learned. Saikoho goat hair may be soft, but not soft enough. On my skin, every brush felt rough.
The E5 and the E6 in particular, were scratchy on the eyelash area. Under magnification, E6 was definitely cut hair, having a straight blunt brush tip without any definite tapering to the hairs, like on normal grown hair tips.
E4 is too stiff for a laydown brush. It applies shadow in a dense manner, no matter how much you tap off, which makes blending afterward a major effort.
The E2 and E3 brushes structure left a fuzzy line instead of detailed as would be expected from a pointed brush. The shorter bristles were splayed and shapeless making application of shadow inaccurate and the points were too flimsy to make a clean cut line.
The E1 is just too large for the eye area and makes blending hard to control. It scatters and washes out blends past desired margins.
Needless to say, this set was returned.
Exquisite
I was so worried Wayne was quietly discontinuing his brush and makeup lines when most were not just out of stock but completely removed from the site during the gift card event. Relief when he posted his announcement a week or two later. Since I pre-ordered the collection, I got them quickly. There is no other way to describe these brushes but "exquisite." The whisper light, soft feel might even softer than the 7 WG squirrel brushes in my collection. What really sets this collection apart from every other natural fiber brush in my fude collection are the shapes, while some are familiar, there are slight changes that make all the difference in the way they perform. All of the brushes (except one detailed below) are so soft and apply and blend beautifully. I'll discuss the stand outs:
The feel and performance is especially notable with E2 and E3. The sides of the 2 eye brushes start with short outer hairs and sharply layer upward/inward to the perfectly pointed tip. This means they blend as you lay down product, but so very lightly, so you have good coverage and an even, gradual blend from crease towards the brow. This works really well on my hooded deep set eyes. I usually have trouble with getting even transition shade above the crease. I didn't expect it, but E3 solved this problem for me.
The only brush I am not yet in love with is the teeny tiny liner, E6. This brush is unique because it is firmer than similarly shaped brushes (like rephr 29) - this was an advantage I looked forward to. However I find this brush is quite scratchy along the sensitive lash line. I even feel a poking sensation when pressing/stamping. I'm going to give it some more time - perhaps because it gets it's firmness from being so densely packed, it just needs some time to break in. There is no special pricing for the full set, so if you have sensitive eyes, you can buy all but E6 individually.
I also love the flat black ferrules and glossy handles. They are lightweight but still feel solid on hand. I love the new WG logo, too. All on all, thrilled with this new brush collection - and the pricing is extremely attractive considering the quality and quantity in this full collection. You won't feel guilty about indulging yourself with this brush set. You deserve it!
Game changer!
These brushes have leveled up my makeup routine. They are easy to hold, soft, and beautiful. They pick up a perfect amount of pigment and gently deposit evenly on my lids. These are perfect, I wouldn't change a thing.
I have a fair-light low contrast complexion and partially hooded lids over blue eyes and getting a good crease is a constant struggle. Dark and even medium shadows have over powered me until now. The angled brushes can lay down a dark shadow in my crease and only my crease instead of smudging halfway up my brow bone, giving my eyes definition they've never had before. Because these brushes aren't laying down excess pigment it is so easy to blend a little up onto the browbone without going super grungy. The tiny liner brush gives me a subtle definition on the upper lashes without a heavy line. These brushes don't disappoint and perform well with high end and drug store products. I'm able to get a better result and am spending less time doing so. Thinking about purchasing a 2nd set. Wayne nailed it! 10/10 Definitely recommend!
