Beauty Product Reviews

Quality Depends on Which Batch You're Getting

The 04 brush is the exact same brush as one of my favorite brush from Hakuhodo, the S142. If you can get Hakuhodo at a better price, I highly recommend Hakuhodo over Wayne Goss. This is a great brush (shape and price wise) if you do NOT have sensitive skin.

For every WG brush, you can find one equivalent brush in Hakuhodo. I heard that the WG brushes from 2014-15 is great and comparable to Hakuhodo, yet my recent purchase (2018) from WG is not as soft (for sensitive skin) does not make me want to keep the brush.

If I can only own 1 brush from Z-series, this is it!

L to R: Suqqu Face, Suqqu Cheek, Chikuhodo Z2, Suqqu M, Chikuhodo Z10

The Chikuhodo Z-series FACE brush is a great option for anyone who wants to step in to the fude world! All the Z-series face brushes are dense squirrel brushes, just different in size and shape. I recommend buying 1 from the Z-series in the brush shape you'll use the most as it is quite pricey.

I prefer small and versatile brushes with round ferrule, and the Z2 works best for me! I use it to highlight, contour, apply blush, and powder. This brush is soft enough to buff, even with the pointed tips, and I had no trouble using it in tapping, sweeping and rolling motion.

With a brush guard the shape will go back to the original pointed shape, but I just prefer the post-wash shape (please refer to picture) more as it is not as dense and is easier to buff. Also, I have washed this brush many times and it still looks good and works well! This is the first and only brush I own from the Z-series, and I feel like this is all I need!

Scratchy??

Not sure if I got a dud, but the one I received was scratchy so I returned it the day I got it. I do have sensitive eyelids though.

Not a Suqqu cheek dupe

Like other reviewers, the brush I received sheds a lot so I returned it. I am posting a review because I see a lot of people considering this brush a suqqu cheek dupe.

This is the softest brush among Wayne Goss brush collection, much softer than his other squirrel brushes. The air brush is as soft as the Suqqu cheek, but I consider the shape very different thus serve very different function (for me). The Suqqu cheek's bristles gradually splayed out towards the end, while the air brush bristles is wider in the middle and thinner at the end. The air brush is also denser than the Suqqu cheek, but I wouldn't consider it dense enough to apply highlighters. For blushes, it does not diffuse colors as nicely because of the flat tapered end. The only purpose left for me comes to setting the under-eye, yet I am not sure if I want to use squirrel hair for that.

Favorite Pencil Brush

Top to bottom: Elf contour, Suqqu M, Chanel pencil, Chikuhodo Z10, Sonia G pencil one, Elf pencil - The Pencil One has the same bristle shape as the elf pencil brush, but much softer and allows me to diffuse colors beautifully. The other pencil brushes in the picture are either not as pointed, too floppy, apply colors too heavily/lightly, or too scratchy. The Pencil One is the only pencil brush I like so far!

Cute brush but Not for sensitive skin

I adore the size and shape of this brush. This brush works great if you like strong highlight. This might not be the brush for you if you have sensitive skin. (I noticed that Chikuhodo's goat hair is not as soft as Hakuhodo's.)
