Fall Forecast: Makeup Trends
Published Aug 31, 2011

Looking for fall makeup ideas? Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee shares her favorite runway-to-real looks for the season.
1. Focus on one feature.
"The emphasis at the fall shows seemed to be on looking immaculately groomed and then defining one feature," says Kate. Try keeping the emphasis on your lips with a statement lipstick, or on your eyes with a muted brown smoky effect."
2. Play with colored mascara!
"Some of my favorite looks were based on full natural brow and a generous amount of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes," says Kate. "There are also some interesting shades to play with, such as deep reds and purples. If you're using only mascara, why not try a color?"
3. Warm up the eyes.
"Another look I loved was the warm, toned, smoked-out eyes," says Kate. "Think burnt amber or apricot and brownish mauve. The idea is to use a mid-tone that's not too dark, and to gently add focus to the entire eye socket and under your bottom lashes."
4. When in doubt, keep the look romantic.
"Pair your smoky eyes with a moist rose tint on your lips, and run some brow gel through your brows for a thoroughly a modern look that's not intimidating or hard to maintain," says Kate.
