Sonja: Hi, I'm Sonya for The Coveted. Today I'm at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco to get a makeup lesson with the new Nude Collection from Bobbi Brown.

Katrina: This is our Nude Collection by Bobbi Brown. First in the collection is our beautiful Nude Eye Palette. It has a beautiful array of colors from a base shadow to some cools, warms, and an eyeliner that gives you a great option of more metallic, a little soft shimmer, or even a flat. It also is customizable so you can actually remove these and take them and put them into different collections personalized for you.

We also have an array of our beautiful creamy lip colors, which are gorgeous for a nice nude lip that still gives a beautiful color, and pale. It also has a beautiful arrangement for someone maybe lighter or deeper skin tone. These creamy lip colors are great as a treatment lip, and they also stimulate lip collagen in the lip to give a fuller lip.

We also have our popular Shimmer Brick. However, this is a brand new one. It's called Nude Shimmer Brick, and it has a beautiful colorless shimmer that you can use on the cheek or on the eye, just to give a little bit of glow -- that beautiful J.Lo glow.

Last but not least, we have our Caviar Gel Liner, which is a gorgeous color that's nice and deep rich brown, almost black that Bobbi's been wearing and applying to all of her Fashion Week wonderful models.

So go ahead and smile. It's important to get enough color in the cheek area if you're going to do a nude look, so that you don't want to look washed out. You want to make sure that you use a tone in your nudes that is neutral but still mimicking you own skin tones. I'm using Sand Pink, and I'm using it right where you would put it if you were to be smiling and laughing and playing just like children. Flushed not blushed. Bobbi likes to us a nice pop color as well, just on the apples just to give a little more lift and . . . beautiful.

Sonja: So you applied Sand Pink?

Katrina: Sand Pink all over and Pale Pink on the cheek, on the apple of the cheek. Next in the collection I'm going to feature, just a little bit of shimmer right on the tops of the cheek just rolling it right there. It gives you a beautiful glow.

They are a colorless shimmer for a medium tone shade, however they do have hints of gold and pinks and corals and beiges for a really nice caramel J.Lo glow.

So let's go ahead and give you a beautiful nude lip. Once again, Bobbi's nudes are not necessarily about not very much makeup, but more about paying attention to the natural tones in you lips. You have color in your lip so we're going to keep that and just give a nice shine to that lip with a little bit of color. It literally almost matches your natural lip tone and coloration in your lip.

Sonja: And what's this color called?

Katrina: And this is called Rose Garden. It's brand new. It's also our creamy lip formulation. Our creamy lip colors are great because they're a treatment lipstick, and they help to stimulate collagen production in the lip. So it's like using a night cream right on your lip with beautiful color.

In order to just define those lips, I'm going to use what's called Naked Lip Liner. It's a really pretty neutral shade just to define the lip, and Bobbi likes to put it over her lipstick so that it wears the same. You don't want that ring around the lip look we all have seen. This will give just a nice defined look in the lip so you can show off your nice pretty full lips. Now you can stop there, or you can also go in with a little bit more color in a shear formula of lip gloss.

Sonja: She just used Rose Garden, and then this pencil is called Naked.

Katrina: Then in order to keep your lipstick on even longer, if you layer your lipstick and then put a little bit of gloss over, it will actually hold your lipstick on for a little bit longer. And that looks beautiful. Bobbi likes to keep it in the same tones that you've used. So this one is a little pinky just like the Rose Garden.

Sonja: So Katrina just put this color on – Rosy..

Katrina: I'm going to go ahead and just fill in the brow, which is the next step of the 10 step, and I'm using Saddle. I brushed the hairs down so that I could go right above them where the root starts and comb in color above. That will give you a nice lift, and when you comb the hairs back up, you will have a nice defined lifted brow.

Bobbi loves getting a framing of the eye with a brow shadow even before going into shadows. She finds that sometimes women will overdo their shadow, when all they needed to do was really frame the eye first. Especially when you're using nude shadows and you're wanting that nice neutral shadow on the lid, you want to get a little bit more definition in your brows as well as eyeliner.

Sonja: It seems like the less makeup you wear the even more important it is to do your brows.

Katrina: Absolutely. It gives a whole framing to the eye and really shows that eye off. So going on to the eyes, now that we have a beautiful framing of the brow, I'm going to do, first, an all over base shadow. This comes right in the kit, and it is called Navajo, and Navajo is a beautiful base to start with. It gives a little lift in the brow and then it also helps to have all over the lid before you place shadow so that your shadows will blend in nicely.

Sonja: And this has a different formula?

Katrina: Yes, it's a little creamier. It helps to blend exactly and hold that color. So I'm pressing it in to the lower lid, that Maple Sugar Metallic, just gorgeous, going all the way up into the crease area. It just gives a soft lift. I'm going to go back in with my Chino, which is a flat, just to give a little definition. Bobbi's not a fan of a harsh crease because she feels like it's a little distracting, whereas something soft in the crease gives just a natural lift to the eye. Beautiful.

Sonja: And what brush are you using?

Katrina: I'm using the eye shadow brush. It's a really great multi-use brush. You can use it flat when I'm building the color, such as this. You can also use it on the tip when I'm going into the crease and softly applying it there.

So this is the Maple Sugar I used on Sonja as well as the Chino. This is the Navajo Base. However, notice you can use more cool tones or warmer tones all in one here. It also has an eyeliner that I'm going to use in a moment here after the gel. It's in a powder form that you can use wet or dry.

So Bobbi's latest obsession is Caviar, Caviar the color. The color is a beautiful, rich brown, almost black. It's like a warm black. Beautiful wonderful color for giving a nice definition. And this is a strong liner, but what we're going to be doing is doing a little bit of a softening effect afterwards just above it, so it's a little bit more of a modern day smoky.

So now I'm going to use that Caviar in a powder form, which is triple pigmented, and I'm going to just apply it directly above and into the line of the gel. This will help soften the line and also helps to give more definition. You can also use this by itself if you're in a hurry and you're on a trip and you just want to bring one palette, you can use our liners, shadows wet or dry.

We're going to use a trick that a lot of makeup artists in the industry are using --and Bobbi loves to do herself -- is using a cream mascara which is our Everything Mascara first. And then we'll go back and use another formula, which is called Lash Glamour, and that is a gel formula. So it will give a combination of thickening as well as staying power and a nice long lash.

Sonja: So this is just the Everything Mascara?

Katrina: This is the Everything Mascara. That's the Lash Glamour. That's our second coat. It's a gel mascara that gives really glamorous long lashes. It's an interesting tube, as you notice, it looks almost like a toothpaste tube. And when you open it, you'll see it's a very nice brush that does a lot of separations of the lash. It helps with that length, and it also is great because you know when you're getting low, which is not always the case with the traditional tube.

And this is the second coat, and that also helps to really hold that curl as well. Voila!

Sonja: Yeah, that adds a lot. Awesome, awesome. I love the extra liner and the drama on the eyes.

Katrina: Bobbi loves more liner, less shadow for a dramatic effect. Nude doesn't have to be boring. It can be something where it's very much a glamorous look.
