I'm a current cosmetology student but they really don't go in-depth with makeup, I love makeup and I'm always complemented on my makeup looks, everything i know about makeup i taught myself. I'm really interested in working as a makeup artist at MAC but I know I need a bit more classes on how to contour ...is there any advise you guys can give me on how to become a professional makeup artist and how to get started on applying to MAC ??

You can contact the district manager of the area and see if they are hiring or not. If you don't have a portfolio yet build one before applying there. I say that because when I interviewed she asked for the pictures. And she asked me selling a product technique. I never got the job and they are still hiring in my area. You have to show that you are talented and are knowledgeable about makeup and their products. Some managers are nice and some are not. Just take a chance

MAC is an amazing company to work for. Here's some advice- in order to get the position, you will be required to do a full makeover on a model of your choice with a pre made face chart. Make sure to have a friend that you can practice, practice, practice on. Before you apply, bring your friend in and match her up in foundation, concealer, and powder. This way you will know her perfect match before you do the makeover. Also, show your personality!! If you make it evident MAC is where your passion lies, it's the utmost important thing you can do. Artistry can be taught, passion can't. Good luck, dear. Hopefully we will be adding another amazing member to our MAC family.
