Cool toned is pink, warmed toned tends to be more yellow/golden toned. Not like shimmery or anything but you get what I mean haha.

Warm tone foundations are more yellow. I have yellow undertones and I find that foundations categorized under "warm" is a good math for me. Although it is a bit pricey the m6 shade in Kat Von D was a perfect match. And then for a cheaper alternative the Loreal true match had warm toned foundations.

You match from your neck up so the color will balance. I thought maybe your skin tone was like mine I'm an in between tone and use to have to mix my colors but one of my all time favorite everyday wear foundation that I've been hooked on is Givenchy Photo'Perfexion in the color perfect gold now this line carries all the in between tones if you look it up at the Sephora site you'll have a better understanding and look at the colors. It's a Luxury line But extremely worth it.

Bobbi Brown is the Queen of yellow toned foundations. And I just saw a video of Wayne Goss raving about her NEW updated stick foundations saying that they are still yellow toned but tweaked a little more into a yellow-neutral undertone. He went on to say that the formula was also improved & looked just like skin.

Oh, it sounds like the sales girl is trying to match your face color. Make sure you tell them you want to match your NECK. It may look funny at first that the foundation doesn't match your face but the overall look will look pulled together.
