Eye shadow base vs. primer?

I have been using eye shadow primer but I got some eye shadow base today. Do they serve the same purpose? or can I use them both together? If so, which one comes first?

Primer can help increase the color value of eyeshadows however it is meant to stop creasing and lengthen wearability. Eyeshadow bases are used to enrich the color payoff.:))))

So here is a picture of primer vs base in terms of MaKenzie's explanation. The same color is on both eyes but the brighter side has the NYX milk base under it and the darker side has the UD primer potion under it. Bases can always make a difference in color, though not always this drastic.

No problem! I normally use a primer and a base for all my looks except when I'm trying to something with browns close to my skin tone. This is a look with the color above and the palette in the link with both.

Great advice ladies,I just want to add that when you use both always make sure the base is similar to primer ingredient because it will start to separate after awhile, the fact that its brighter and pretty at first doesn't mean it will be that way in lasting power.When adding both sometimes can be to much of product that it can work against the purpose.Its trial and error just try it out and see if it works for you not only for color but it works with the primer and does not crease.Always understand how oily your lids get or if they're dry that's what also helps to determine the finish.
