I would be paying $50 to get my makeup done professionally. Should I pay $50 or do it myself. I just started getting into makeup and in afraid I'll mess up for prom. Soooo what should I do?

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, I would get it done by a professional :)

I did mine myself, and honestly just start soon enough that you don't have to rush or worry about messing it up.

But I will make a suggestion. Look up looks on Pinterest that you'd like to get done, or suggest a look to the makeup artist!

I think it depends on your skill level and most importantly your comfort level. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, go to a professional. However, not all MUAs are good ones especially working with women of color. I definitely suggest a trial run then if you are satisfied then go for it

I got my makeup and hair done professionally for my freshmen prom and honestly it was nothing I couldn't have done myself. I requested a look the MUA wasn't familiar with so she played it very safe (I'm not that kind of girl) I looked great and all but that was just one experience from one MUA so if you really want a professional look I would suggest researching your potential artist.

If you want to save money just do it yourself! You could practice how you will do it before Prom, & you know what you like, so you don't want the makeup artist to do something you hate & then be stuck with it! Good luck!

To be honest.. I had a make up artist do my make up. I was just getting into make up, so I knew I could do something but I didn't think anything about it.
Turns out, the make up artist didn't even know what mineral powder foundation was.
She spent half an hour doing my make up. And I honestly didn't even look any different than before.
Yeah a chanel foundation was nice but what's the point? I wanted winged eyeliner and she couldn't even do that.
If you know what you want and you know how to do it, do it.
Practice it at home until you can get it down in a T. Prom isn't that big of a deal, it's more hyped than it is to be :\

I didn't want to pay and didn't feel comfortable doing it myself so I got a friend to do it, It was best cause I felt most comfortable if I didn't really like something telling her so that I felt my most eaitoful.

Last year for prom I had a close friend do mine because I did a bunch of test trials before prom and they looked horrible! But after prom I really learned how to do my makeup so much better and so I did my makeup for prom this year and it looked great. So if you're comfortable then I say do it yourself but if not, then go get it done. I recommend looking up pictures on Pinterest or on here, so you can show them what look you're going for, if you decide to get it professionally done.

I highly recommend getting a freelance makeup artist vs going to a counter or salon if you choose to go the professional route. a friend of mine had the girl who was doing her hair do her makeup as well and she washed it all off tge second she got home.

Nathalie that's what I don't like about MUA, especially the ones at my local MAC. They make me look like I'm 35+
