I have the same problem! I never use it because it is a mess! I tried the pressing method where you add alcohol to it and press it but the second I touched it with my bush it turned back to messy powder.

Is there a sift lid that comes with it? By that I mean a lid with a small hole (or holes) that sits on top of the loose powder? All the loose powders I buy come with it but if yours doesn't you can buy a separate container with the sifter and put that powder in it.

In the soft container there usually is a couple holes that are all covered. Instead of ripping the seal off the holes only poke one or two of these holes open. Tap what you want out and you will have no more of a problem.

Oh that's a great tip Lorna I never thought to do it that way - but then again I'm always careful n don't really have that issue of tapping out too much powder but if I do I will definitely try that - thanks!

I do "poke" only 2-3 holes in the seal also. But since the damage is already done. The only way I know of salvaging the situation is to carefully pour the powder on top of the sifter onto a piece of paper, then with a knife or another metal object, carefully pry off the plastic sifter. It won't be easy and you have to be so careful you don't hurt yourself. Make sure you do this when you have plenty of time, you don't want to rush this. You could heat up the tip of the knife to make it go in easier. Now if you know you're not very dexterous, I wouldn't even attempt it. But if you do successfully remove the sifter, you can fold the paper with the powder in it & pour it back into the jar. Then clean up the powder residue on the top of the sifter & let dry. After its dry, you can put a tiny bit of postal tape over the majority of the holes. And you'll be back in business!

Oh, and when youre prying the sifter off, you're going to have to work in sections. Don't try to get it off after prying it on one spot only. You're going to have to work around the sifter edges. its easier that way & safer even though its more time consuming. Pleeeeeese be careful & take your time. Even if you have to walk away from it for awhile & come back to it.
