How to make my hair less soft?

My hair is extremely soft, silky, and fine. This makes it very hard to style and it often falls in my face. (partially due to my side part) I've tried pinning it back but it doesn't look very good on my round face. So my two questions are, what hairstyles can I try to fit my round face, and how do I make my hair less soft?
