Ok I have a really itchy cold sore and I put Carmex on it.. It doesn't look like it's going to go away anytime soon. Are there any remedies or something that would make it go away?

I wouldn't put carmex on it as it could irritate it. I haven't heard of any remedies for cold sores so I would just pick up some Abreva or something.

Abriva is the only thing I have found that actually works on cold sores.

Zovirax only works if you use it at itch/early blister stage carmax will stop the scab drying out and cracking if its still at the blister stage without a scab apply a warm (not hot) tea bag for 8 minutes and then ice for a further ten minutes tea helps it heal quicker and ice reduces the swelling whatever you do don't it itch it you don't want it to spread as to anyone or anywhere else on your body as it is the herpes virus. I have had a lot of cold sores at least 1 every 3 months and this is how I deal with mine plus a daily does of multi vit and lysine and red light treatment but thats becuse I get them so frequent

Unfortunately cold sores tend to last anywhere between 5-10days

Lemon balm oil! It's really saved my face. Put it in the fridge and apply with a cotton wool ball. If applied at the first tingle, it can stop cold sores in their tracks, and if you apply it to an already prominent sore, it can cut the time it sticks around down by half. You should be able to get it from any health store. Good luck!

With cold sores you want to be as natural as possible!! Putting a lip balm that may contain paraben and other chemicals is a no no!! I recommend tea tree oil, this works very nicely for my cold sores and they go away in just a few days! Another thing is you never want to cover or put any type of "healing patch" on it, that will cause humidity to your sore and may cause it to grow and infect! Letting it breathe is the best thing you can do!
