Literally anything... Just make sure you wear shoes that fit really well when you go driving.

The most important thing is comfort when driving, it's not a fashion show so don't worry about what you're wearing.

I live in NC too and just got my permit when I turned 15 in march(: and it was the most boring class ever usually I went into the locker room and changed into athletic shorts and a t shirt

It's 15 where I live... I would just wear yoga pants and a tshirt and tennis shoes.

I wore converse and comfortable clothes. In my opinion, when learning to drive you should wear something comfortable with your hair out of your way. Being comfortable helped me not worry as much and just relax.

Haha I always looked like I'd just rolled out of bed at drivers ed (it was at 8am😡) but the people who actually tried to look cute just wore nice flattering everyday clothes.

She's obviously aware it's not a fashion show. Lol. Maybe she just wants to look cute. I'd give advice but I really don't know. :) lol. Sorry.

No disrespect meant, but I live in Northern California as well and that is definitely not the law. You are allowed to start the actual driver's ed classes whenever you want, but you cannot actually take the permit test without being 15 and a half. You cannot drive whatsoever if you do not have a permit, even if you have a "teacher". If you just mean written classes, that is fine.
As for outfits, be comfortable. It's not a fashion show!
