I have really oily hair and habe no idea how to control the oil. I have tried so many things but nothing has worked. I take showers at night let my hair air dry then sleep on it. The falloing day is fine its not that oily but if I sleep on it that following night when I wake up my hair is so oily. I have tried to extend the days between washes like many people have said to try to "trian" your hair but that is terrible. Dry shampoo doesn't soak up enough oil and I can go through a can every 2 weeks. I only shampoo the scalp and condtion from my neck down. Any help? Thanks.

Try to go without washing it for a few days, maybe on the weekend if you can stay home. Also, baby powder works better than dry shampoo.(:

@ Diana I have tried to go a few days without washing it but it didn't do anything at all to my hair. I tried this many times before.

@Jacqlyn Thanks! I will definitely check it out. I'm willing to try anything. Were do you normally buy it from?

First off when washing your hair, don't use something that's really going leave oils behind like high moisturizing ones. And wash it out with cold water. This will help close the hair follicle. And try to only use conditioner in the middle and ends of your hair.
Towel dry but try to keep the ends away from the roots.
I find blow drying my hair before I sleep helps it be less oily too and then I can add some volume too. But try not to use any products on your roots. I only use a small about of my root lifting spray when I blow dry.
My favourite dry shampoo is pictured here! Seriously I love it. I do go through it quickly but it's the best one I've tried. The worst was the Cake brand.
But anyways, spray this in at the roots, let it sit for a few minutes, should go kinda gray white, then I massage it into my hair and scalp and that usually zaps the oilyness and makes it fuller.

Make sure your hair is for oily hair too, it'll help more than you think. I have the same problem as you and it took MONTHS but I can finally go three days without washing it and it won't be oily.

Have you considered doing coconut or kuikui nut oil as a deep conditioner over night treatment? I work bY I in a derm office and that's pretty much what we tell patients with oily scalps to do. starting from the scalp begin applying the oil directly on to your scalp and working it down the lengths combing through to evenly distribute. wrap your hair in a scarf so you dint ruin your pillow case. leave in over night and wash your hair as you normally do. as the oil sinks in to your scalp and it sends neurotranmitters to the glands responsible for over producing the oil. the transmitters signal the oil glands that there is plenty of oil at the surface so stop making more oil. please your hair will reap some great benefits as well...trust me it works!

@Linda I've never actually heard of that. I always do coconut oil deep conditions for my ends but people before have told me don't put it on my scalp because it will be more oily. How you explained it makes since though Ill have to try it out. Do you just take a shower in the morning to rinse it out?
