This is normal, washing your hair just once a week is really not often. there are people who have to wash them everyday. I recommrnd washing them whenever they get oily :)

I do think it's normal. I think most people wash their hair ever other day-three times a week. I'm surprised you can go almost a week without shampooing!

I think once a week is a good amount of time to keep from washing your hair. The reason your mother's might not get as oily as fast is simply because shes older and doesn't produce as much oil. Maybe you inherited your hair type on your paternal side.

I have very thick hair (4.25inch circumference ponytail) down to my waist. I wet wash every 10-14 days because it is *so* involved. I prep the night before with an EVOO+tea tree&bergamont scalp treatment (I use an empty re-labeled contact solution bottle. The nozzle is perfect to get the DYI elixir to the scalp). Wash day I use Neutragena tar shampoo at scalp and work it in with special shampoo brushes on each hand (a *total* must!) and Joico Kpak on the length. After I wash, I follow with a hair mask and treatment on the length. Then a rich conditioner. After towel drying, argon oil, a leave in conditioner, hair serum/sealer, and air dry.

Between washes, I spritz bath body works aromatherapy eucalyptus spearmint at the scalp daily, and use hair mist on the length that I blot with a towel. When I extend the wash to 14 days I use a coconut wash on the length about day 9

Hope this helps!
