So I am in a dilemma because I have a client who is bride. She initially contacted me in October end of the month. Then she said she wants a trial forwards me the pic and I was yes sure we can do it. She cancelled her trial 2 times now. I just want to know how to handle her now and what I should do next. I do not want last minute booking where I change my other plans for clients and such.

If she reschedules, I would politely let her know that it's pertinent that she not reschedule due to this being holiday season and you being extremely busy with other clients. Also, if you do the trial and she decides she wants you to be her artist, have her pay a deposit before the makeover. People usually don't cancel when they have money down. Don't you just love clients like this? ;)

I only allow one time to reschedule, after that, nope, not the client for me.

You can also request full amount paid because it's around a holiday and your schedule is very tight (always seem kinda of busy - makes it look like you're in high demand).

Yes, ask for a deposit to hold her date for the trial.

you have to be firm and stand by your rules.

Yes I have already told her that I am not going to be accommodating for cancellations since its holiday season and last minute booking wont do with me. All booking are made in advance and actually she just does not want to pay for her gas to come and get a trial and I requested I can come to her but she does not want to reimburse me for my gas mileage mmmmm makes me think about why she approached a makeup artist to get makeup done anyways?

I always take a non refundable deposit for brides.

I have to agree with nicol. If you aren't firm people will walk all over you.

I agree with Erica...deposit,deposit,deposit...or you might just have to walk away from this client, seems like she's too indecisive

I decided to walk away for a reason because she tells me her schedule is too hectic and she wants a makeup artist who accommodates her hectic schedule. She is on the lookout for another makeup artist but I am also sure most or all makeup artists have their rules in cancellations, fees, and deposits, plus she never wanted to pay for a trial and neither did she want to reimburse for gas mileage.

Thanks all of you and I was feeling bad about it but I don't anymore it is her loss and of course there are other opportunities to look out for

She's nuts. Lol

Glad you walked away.

I always figure in mileage in the price of the trial. I only add in mileage for the day of the wedding. Asking for mileage reimbursement might have been a turn off to her for the trial. Just something to think about.

Yes I understand but she was 1 hr from me and I requested her that usually trials are done at my place and my other clients never had that issue same as she did. Yes I am glad that I am not working with her as I do not want to be pushed around by her. Plus she was rude most of the time
