Easy and fast way to curl hair

I have a straightener, 3/4 in and 1 3/4 in curling iron with clip. Does anyone know a fast easy way to curl my hair with any of these tools? If u have multiple ideas post the one with the best results :)

With my 1" straightener, I curl my hair as well as straighten it. The curls last till I wash them out. It's kind of hard to describe, but ill do my best :) I straighten the roots for a smooth look, then starting at my ears, I hold the hair at a slight angle and I have the straightener vertical and slowly twist it in the angle in which I want the curls to go. pretty much how you would use a curling iron. Lol. I say do it slow because its not hard to have a crease if you're not careful. My hair is about 4" below my shoulders and very thick & coarse and takes about 40 min. This includes making the roots straight. Hope this helps.
