Clinique is really good and an affordable high end foundation. I recommend trying different samples before buying any foundation though.(:

I'm totally obsessed with the NARS sheer matte foundation! A lot of people are sort of saying iffy reviews about them, but I am so in love with it! It stays on all days and makes my skin super soft and flawless. It doesn't feel heavy either, a little sure does go a long way if you spray your brush with a setting spray before applying. I'm also super fair skinned and it matches my skin perfect

Well caked foundation happens through fault of application not the actual foundation. There are ways to prevent cakiness in even thick foundations. This being said, if you are somewhat oily but also dry and acne prone I would agree with Jacqlyn about trying to look for oil free makeup. Kat Von D lock it lasts for hours and hours while covering seamlessly. Dermablend covers very well too. Estée Lauder double wear has a couple versions that may be worth looking into :)

Cover girl 3-in-1 foundation is a dupe for the Kat Von D Lock It if you're looking for a cheaper alternative. You don't even have to set it with a powder (but I do) and it's matte all day.
