I want to dye my hair again but I know I have to bleach it first. I've never bleached my own hair before and I don't have money to go to a salon again so what are some things I should know? And which products would you recommend? Also I just had my hair bleached and dyed about a month ago so should I wait longer?

Well I've bleached my hair three times by myself. so I used flash blue bleach powder its $4 if your bleaching a lot of hair get two or three packets. at Sally they sell tinfoil that has a clear side so you can see when it's done. it's actually not that hard. just keep track of the time. mine turned blonde in 30 mins. if it comes out super blonde almost white don't panic it's not that bad. it gets more normal when it's dry. when you apply it, put a fair amount so it's evenly coated. I hope I make sense. and hope I helped. and you should wait a day before doing a deep condition. itll fade to an orange if you.

If you can definitely go into Sallys they give you really good advice on which volume to use and so on depending on what shade your hair is :)

Okay so your hair is dark, I'd start with a 30vol peroxide for the first bleach and buy a small bottle of 20vol for the second bleach. You'll need to bleach twice if you're wanting to go a shade of blonde. After that you'll be able to tone the brassy colours out with a toning shampoo or toner, I like to use toning shampoo because it leaves my hair feeling less gritty than actual toner does. Lee Stafford makes a good purple shampoo and it is literally the cheapest one I've come across and it works a lot better than some of the more expensive ones I've tried. Leave It on dry hair for about half an hour, it'll come out looking a purple colour when it's wet but when it dries and has been washed a couple times it'll be a platinum blonde. I leave my toning shampoo in for an hour because I like silver hair. Don't ever use anything more than 30vol, I used 40 once and it didn't even lighten it much just fried it because the peroxide amount is so high. ( I would usually type this longer but I'm tired haha :( )

I'd honestly just go to a professional. Even if you know exactly what you're doing it can be hard to get even results. Bleaching can quickly turn disastrous, but that's jusy my opinion. I used to do my hair when it was super blonde and I was in college, broke and didn't trust the girls at the cosmo program at the school I was attending (because I was roommates with one for a while and she was, no joke, psycho.) so I did it myself from a box and let's just say that when I look back at pictures I didn't look very good lol.

^ that's probably because you did it from a box, box dyes are almost never even.

Yeah don't use a box dye to first initially bleach your hair it leaves it uneven and you will have darker patches. However one time I bleached my hair my hair was jet Black I bleached it twice and it did come out pretty blonde but then I just used Schwarktopz lightest blonde they have which I think is "ice blonde" and it lightened it to the colour I wanted :')

I agree with shwartzkopft, their Nordic blonde lighteners are the best for after the first bleach if you don't want to use bleach again.
