How long do I have to wait before I can change my septum piercing? I got it pierced Nov. 9 for my 18th birthday, and I believe the piercer said wait 4 weeks. She also told me to clean it with q-tips and water. Anywho, it no longer hurts or has those crusties. So, I want to know how long you waited? Also, what piercings do you have? :D

My sis in law waited 6 weeks just to be on the safe side. I have my belly button pierced but I no longer wear jewelry for it.

I have a 3 yr old who is very active and I'm scared of him grabbing hold. Plus, I have a 50 pound cuddle buddy for a dog and we had a few close calls with his paws.

I would wait as long as possible, honestly. To make a long story short: I had mine done for like 6 weeks, got EXTREMELY intoxicated one night (this was many years ago), and I'm pretty sure it fell out while I was puking... The next day I my boyfriend (a piercer) tried to put a new one in for me, & it had closed up overnight! So I had to wait like a month for it to fully heal over, & re-pierce it.
I always say the best rule of thumb is to just go into a shop & have the piercer change it out for you (at least while it's relatively new). They won't charge you to change it for you- but I'd at least throw them a $5 tip for their time. Hope that was helpful & not too gross of a story! hahaa
