Hey girls, so I had some questions. I'm no pro when it comes to foundation, contouring, or putting bronzer etc.because I've never owned any. Well I get the point of contouring etc.but one thing that I personally find really hard to understand is foundation.
I hear a lot of girls saying that so and so foundation is a light coverage or full coverage, I don't really understand that.. When girls talk about undertones either.. I know you have to choose your foundation to your neck color but how do you know it's the right one knowing that people sometimes say that it feels or looks ''caky''?
I'm sorry for so many questions but if you could answer all my questions and maybe tell me more I would really appreciate it a lot! :)

Light coverage is light and probably not enough to cover up pimples or any other marks you might have...heavy foundation could cover up anything! I seen people cover their tattoos completely with Mac foundation...under is the color of your veins basically, like are they blue green or purple? This determines if you have a cool undertone or a warm one...some people say to match your foundation to your wrist but that hasn't really worked for me hahah! And yes it could look cakey if you apply too much
😁😊😊😁

Find your basic undertone and match the foundation to your neck. You also have to find your skins depth level (how dark you are).
Look at the inside of your forearms in natural sunlight. See the veins there? If your veins are appearing more blue, your cool undertones. If your seeing more green, you're warm. So, blue veins = cool skin, green veins = warm skin. If you can't tell whether they're blue or green your probably neutral.
Also if you wear more or look better in silver jewelry your more cool. If you wear more gold then warm. If you look good in both your probably neutral.
The "cakey" can usually be caused by how someone applied their makeup, what tool they used to apply it or technique, or the ingredients didn't work well together (primer, foundation, moisturizer).
Light coverage is for people that usually want very little coverage or don't need to cover very much, to even skintone a bit (lite redness etc.). Heavier coverage foundation are usually used to hide harder to hide imperfections like ance/ance scars or if you if you just like the finish. It really up to you want you want your foundation coverage to do.

The coverage of a foundation is how much it will cover ( full coverage will cover every thing but it could feel heavy or caky)
Undertone is the colour of your skin (you could have really pink skin or you could have a more olive toned skin) to find your skin tone Michelle phan has made a good video on youtube about it
Caky means that the foundation is sticky or you can feel it on your skin this usually happens with a full coverage foundation as they are normally thicker
Hope this answered some of your questions

That was a great explanation Velen, I'm actually thinking of trying out a foundation... I haven't used it since I was like 15, but recently I started wearing bb cream witch I really like cos I don't like the full coverage!

Sabrina, I'm completely won over with IT's CC cream. It's great if you're not into heavy foundations! It's got so many skin benefits mixed in!
