You could also spray spritz hairspray on the iron I do this because my hair is very hard to curl

Wrap hair away from face with the curling & then run hands through your scalp and shake. It loosens up the curls making them fall smoothly and perfect

I agree with Miss Tia!! Have you seen that video where the girl fries off her hair?!? That was because it was probably damp.
I had that problem when I was younger. (Not getting curls, not frying my hair off!!)
How long are you holding the hair to the iron? From the picture I think you are using too big of sections, take about half of that. It takes more time, but the results are better.
Another thing you might want to try is kind of hard to explain on here... But I'll try!
Wrap your hair around the barrel of the curling iron, just like you did in the picture.
Release the curl, but before you move on to the next curl, carefully take the curl, wrap it around your finger like it would be on the iron, and let it cool down. Or you could even try looking up pin curls.
There is science behind it! When you curl your hair, your trying to change your hair with heat, so if you let it fall with it still being hot, it's just going to stretch out the curl (stupid gravity), if you hold the curl up while it curls it will cool that way and stay there (:
Hope that wasn't too confusing!!
