Is it normal for my acne medicine to work like this??

I have begun to break out terribly, so I went to my dermatologist and asked what should I do? He put me on an antibiotic called Solodyn and I take that once everyday and I also apply a topical treatment of Epiduo. I have been on it for at least two weeks and I see no change, just a little peeling of my skin in random areas, but I'm still getting pimples. Is this supposed to happen?
