It usually helps to prevent bleeding and lines up the lips nicely b neatly.

I just use it like normal lip liner on the outside of my lips to keep my lipstick or gloss from bleeding or feathering. It's easier for me to keep one pencil on hand rather than to buy a bunch of lip liners. I don't wear lipstick all that often so it's a little silly for me to buy a bunch of them.

I use the one by nyx to clean up around my brows. it's super quick!
