I have acne prone skin and it seems to be quite sensitive.. I have heard that using coconut oil as a moisturizer works well.. but it makes me very nervous putting oil on my skin.. would you recommend it?

well it says because you strip your skin of its natural oils by using products to get rid of acne.. I have been using honey as a face wash(its an anti bacterial).. do you think the honey strips my skin of its natural oils?

No no no. Putting coconut oil on your skin for acne is GOOD! I have acne prone skin and I do a honey and coconut oil mask every couple of days and it works wonders! The coconut oil helps to bring the toxins to the surface! It's VERY good! I don't use it as a moisturizer, but putting oil on your skin won't make you break out more. That's basically a myth. I use argan oil as a moisturizer and it also really helps with my acne.

hi Kaitlin,
i have a similiar skin type as yours and i know how annoying it is. grew up as tropical girl,im sure coconut oil is best remedy for hair treatments, or as body moisturizer.but, dont put any oil on your face skin, since oil will break out your face skin more. some moisturizer probably contains coconut oil,but the company probably use the concentrate coconut oil, mixed it with some ingredients that might be helpful for the skin. but for the raw coconut oil on your face, i am not sure it works. unless, you put it on your hair or your body skin.not your face. if you want to try from inside treatment, try to take Zinc as your supplement. for a review, you can browse how Zinc would be helpful for acne prone skin. some people reviews Zinc on makeupalley.com. i once put olive oil on my face cos i thought it would be helpful,haha..but it broke out my skin badly.so, since then,i stop putting any raw oil on my face..:)

Ncy, olive oil is a very thick oil. Coconut oil AND argan oil are very light oils so its completely different.

I LOVE using coconut oil on my face, especially at night! I would recommend at least trying it, it's light, but moisturizing as well. Try putting it on the ends of your hair, too. It will make it soft and shiny!

Also if you try it with a mask a few new pimples might pop up but that normal! It's bringing Everything to the surface.

Make sure it's cold pressed virgin coconut oil. I use it as a conditioning treatment and a makeup remover every night!

since acne is usually hormonal i'd go to a doctor to talk about it. oils work for some people, and for others make it worse.

The coconut and honey mask? It's just mixing equal part together ? And applying it for how long?

Dec 4, 2012

Jordan W.

Yes mam about equal or so and I leave mine I for twenty minutes! Some people even leave a thin layer of coconut oil on overnight but I find the twenty or thirty minutes is good for me! :)

If it doesn't work there is clay masks, products with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid and if it's bad enough a dr. can give you antibiotics or some other option.
I have adult acne prone skin and had to go the dr. route. Solved it for me

Coconut oil has anti bacterial and anti fungal agents. GREAT FOR SKIN!!! I put on a thin layer most nights after I wash my face, before bed. My skin soaks it up overnight. Your skin will thank you. Try it for a few weeks!

Extra virgin is suppose to be the best! I am obsessing over this on my skin! it is amazing and doing wonders for my eczema and a current allergic reaction I just endured! This will definitely be a standout for me this week on my beauty channel @ YouTube.com/graceandglamor! I picked mine up at gnc!

@danielle I agree it's EVOO is fabulous! It's been a life saver for me when I got the mother of all rashes when I was pregnant & after my baby was born. Although, I do like coconut oil too.
