I have a love/hate. I adore putting it on and looking up reviews and researching new products, but I have to put on my face to go to work, go see my family, go out to dinner, ect otherwise I feel so ugly and uncomfortable. I hate that I feel like I need it now, when in reality, no one does. Very bittersweet.

There are a lot of people out there that don't like it because they say it's fake. Or that everyone looks better without it. Best to show yourself. I sorta feel the same way but I like makeup. I don't wear it everyday though. Only on special days. But I feel natural beauty is amazing. Also makeup if pretty good. It should mostly be used to bring your features in a persons face and add to the beauty. But there are a lot of people who hate it and a lot of people who love it. It's just an opinion and preference.

My boyfriend hates it when I put on a lot lol I have actually started moving to BB creams since they look more natural on my skin than foundation and he doesn't notice that I'm wearing it XD.

I have a love hate relationship with makeup, for example It goes on perfectly one day and the next day it just doesn't want to happen, 3 tries later and I end up leaving bare faced -sigh- why can't it be perfect everyday, haha!

Lol like everyone I know espically my dad its like he is always in the morning asking me what I'm doing and when I say makeup he's like thats such a waste of time you know you could be curing cancer in 10 minutes lol but I love makeup so thats what counts.

My bros (friends. I don't really talk to a lot of girls lol) say they hate it but drool after girls who wear it and turn away from girls who don't. I've come to realize that its badly applied make up that they hate. In fact, I had a couple dudes pay me to do their girlfriends make up for fancy dates :'D

I agree with Shannon. I like makeup a lot, it's fun and can enhace your features. On the other hand I've noticed that I don't wear any at most of my profile pictures on FB, in which I feel beautiful :) As long as you accept yourself all natural, makeup is a plus

My sister and dad. My sister has literally never used makeup ever and doesn't like it at all and is 16 and my dad doesn't like it because he thinks my mom and I (and people in general) are naturally pretty and don't need makeup.

My mom, she only wears it to special occasions. She says that all the stuff you put on your face will show in time & I honestly kind of believe her, her skin is flawless not one wrinkle no scars no pimples, people never believe she's my mom because she has such a youthful complexion.

First of all, thanks so much for opening-up about such an interesting and difficult topic. This one hits pretty close to home, so please pardon me if I get a little TMI.

I grew-up in a very conservative, religious environment where girls and even full-grown women were actively discouraged from wearing makeup. In fact, it was not uncommon to see teachers at the private high school I attended telling a girl with a little mascara or eyeliner on to go wash her face in the bathroom between classes--always embarrassing for the girl in question.

The rationale we were given was that vanity was an undesirable trait in a woman, one that we all had to fight. What they really meant, as I came to understand later on, is that they did not believe women should be allowed to control something as basic as their own appearance.

Please understand, I'm not saying that all women should wear makeup. Most of the time, I just slap on little tinted moisturizer with a good SPF, after my regular skincare routine, of course.

My point is that the idea that women should never wear makeup is every bit as wrong and controlling as the idea that all women should always wear it. Both ideas attempt to enforce a preconceived notion of what "true feminine beauty" is without any regard for women themselves.

The bottom line, to me? It's your face and your life. Wear eyeliner because you like it. Put on that bright pink lipstick before you go to work because it makes you feel like a warrior. Or don't, because you like your freckles and you don't care what anyone else thinks about them.

Ultimately, your appearance is just that: Your own. No matter what they may think, no one else has the right to tell you how to look anymore than they have the right to tell you who to be or what to do with your life.
