Going to a Christmas party in December, I have a really thick black maxi dress that I wore to a wedding in July with a sweater over top and I absolutely loved it. I wanna wear it to a Christmas party now but I'm unsure about the pink and yellow flowers with green leaves...any advice?

I am huge on style and you cannot wear pink or yellow in Winter. Get yourself a dark red with black dress, and buy some jewelry all matching. You'll look awesome. If you wear heels, black will do the trick. Post some pictures up!

I say wear whatever you feel most comfortable and pretty in! I have always been into fashion, worked in the fashion industry holding real jobs and internships, and have studied at a few prestigious fashion and art schools, and I say WHO CARES about any rules! I think you should do what you would like. Not saying that it sounds like a crazy outfit, but I always love and appreciate when people think outside of "fashion rules and regulations" and choose to challenge these fake rules people seem to come up with. I am not saying dress in an easter outfit, but floral accents in colors-definitely okay!
If you are wearing these summer colors that everyone seems to object to so much (I don't), I would style the rest of the look in a completely winter appropriate way. When there is a balance between the seasons, colors, and textures/fabric weights/etc, you will be completely fine. I wouldn't wear it with a light sweater, but more of a nice jacket or statement winter coat (I basically live in fur and leather or vintage in the winters, so that's where my mind is). I think as long as you put your outfit on and think "this feels right," then you're okay. I would probably keep a backup outfit too, but I always have 50 backup outfits since I am so indecisive.

I believe you can wear any color and print year round. I wore a nautical sweater just last week! If you feel comfortable in the dress, then wear it to the party. Have fun!

Love the idea of a maxi dress, but the pattern may not be holiday appropriate. I'd try a black maxi with a chunky sweater on top- maybe cream or red!
