I would say cover blemishes as much as you can because it's very noticeable in a photo shoot!

Don't use makeup with SPF in it, I've heard it doesn't photograph well

Elongate your neck. And keep good posture Like pretend your head is being held up by a string , photos tend to add weight as we know and especially the face at the wrong angle. Look at yourself in a mirror and kind of pose around and practice your smile. Find what angle you think you look best at. For me I've found I look best from the right ( my nose looks funny from the left ) and mostly important don't feel uncomfortable!! Your photographer has done this tons of times and you may get a few silly looking pictures but you go through and find your best shot. If you're uncomfortable it will show in your pictures!
