I know a couple people that will get them done at their salon before a big event or when trying to impress, and every time I get my hair done my stylist does one since my hair is flat! I do them at home a couple times a week but I deep condition in the next wash and I use lots of heat protectant at the ends and a light serum protector at the top so it will coat the strands and still. Cover them well :) it is drying tho, don't get me wrong but its worth it a couple times a week- I first started or practiced by doing one every other day and lacking protection but now I've got a routine that hasn't damaged my hair further.

Blowouts are amazing!!! They have hair bars that do that specifically. I would def try it....see for urself!!!! :)
