I'm not a professional, but there seem to be a few techniques that the pros agree on when it comes to making small eyes look large. Full disclosure: This is the first time that I have ever given anyone this kind of advice. I hope this helps...

For the sake of brevity, well assume that you have already applied your foundation it your usual manor and focus on the eye design.

1. Select a light, shimmery, champagne color and apply to your entire eyelid--all the way from the lash line to your brow. Still a eye shadow in Kitten would be a perfect example of the color I have in mind.

2. Select a medium brown shade and apply it to your crease. Concentrate most of the color or the outter third of your crease.

3. Using the same brown eye shadow, shade the putter third of your eyelid--this will really help to create dimension and encourage the illusion that your eyes are much larger than they seem. Blend what is left on the brush down, below your lower lash line.

4. Take a clean, fluffy eye shadow brush and blend like crazy!

5. Select your favorite dark brown or black eyeliner and line your eyes. Remember: More can be less! A fully lined eye can be very dramatic, but it also tends to make eyes look smaller. I would recommend using a waterproof liner to darken the waterline of your upper eyelid only. Leaving your lower waterline bare will create more of a wide-eyed, open look. If you prefer a winged liner look, go ahead and do so. Otherwise, I think a simple tightline on the upper eyelid looks naturally stunning. Go ahead and line your bottom lashes, too, but only go about halfway or two-thirds across. If you go all the way from the putter corner to the inner corner on your lower eyelashes, you will close-up the eye and make it look smaller again. Blend as appropriate.

6. For an extra highlight that will really make your eyes pop, take a very light, metallic shadow (light gold if you have a warm skin tone, bright silver if you have cool skin tone) and apply it at the inner corner of your eyes. I always blend it up a little into the upper eyelid and down a little onto the lower lid.

7. Curl your eyelashes and apply a couple coats of your favorite black mascara.

You're done! Remember to unite everything with a pink blush (my current favorite is L'Oreale Visible Lift Blush in Rose Gold Lift) and lipstick or gloss. The more neutral tones of the eye shadows you used will add depth and dimension to your eyes without accidentally overwhelming your natural features or clashing with your gorgeous outfit.
