I posted this once before, but no one replied.
I've been having issues with my skin lately. No matter how well I moisturize, or what I moisturize with, about an hour into my day at work, my skin feels like its cracking off, and is super itchy. Days when I don't work I still get itchy, but its no where near as bad as when I work.

When I look in the mirror, its like all the moisture has been sucked out of my skin, and I look patchy and red.

I've tried many different moisturizers. I was using the Neutrogena oil free sensitive skin moisturizer, but it wasn't quite doing the job. I tried both the Cetaphil cream and lotion moisturizers, but neither of them worked. I tried Kiss My Face Sensitive Skin Olive and Aloe moisturizer. I tried the Neutrogena Naturals Multivitamin Nourishing Moisturizer, but I think it was breaking me out, plus not making my skin feel any better.
I'm really not sure what to try now, because nothing is working. My skin has never felt like this before. Its incredibly painful.

Does anyone have anything you recommend? I'm getting desperate.

Could it be allergies? It's odd that it gets worse at work. What is your workspace like? Is there anything you could be allergic to or could be harming your skin?

Jess- I thought it could be. I work at a grocery store, but in the office. The other lady who works there has two African violets in the room, and there are no windows in this room, so It could be the plants, but I've taken allergy medicine and it didn't help at all. I don't normally have allergies to anything.

Thanks Marleen, I'll go look!

Lela, it could be an allergy to something you're using on your face. I recommend you go to a dermatologist, and get allergy tested and see if there's anything, or any ingredients, that you're reacting to.

I don't think I can see a dermatologist. I don't have insurance, or even a primary doctor I could go see. Unless my college has a dermatologist on site... Which I'll look into.
I guess its possible I could be allergic to something I'm using on my face, but I've been using the same facewash for over 6 months, the same foundation for 3 months, and the same powder and primer for almost 2 years. The only new thing I've tried are moisturizers, and that's only been in the last month, which is when this problem started.

I only work on the weekends, so 2 days a week. so this only happens on the weekends. I get a little bit dry during the week, but not like this.

Thank you everyone. Jacqlyn, I'll try ordering the cream tonight. You can only get it at Sephora right?

I had no problems with the Sensitive skin moisturizer, other than it wasn't giving my enough moisture. I had been using it since last June, with no problem until about a month ago. Its only gotten worse with each new product I've tried though, which is a bit confusing.

Aww, okay. I'll have to order it online. There isn't a Sephora for probably 100 miles.

Thank you Jacqlyn! I'm about to order now!

You must have really sensitive skin I looked at the ingredients in the neutrogena before while at Walgreens and it has fragrance which is and irritant (lots of chemicles). The other moisturizers you mentioned also have fragrance and/or dye. Have you ever looked into Origins moisturizers? I use one called Dr. Weeks Mega Mushroom skin relief. They make it in a lotion form for oily skin and a cream form for dry skin. It does a good job of calming redness and irritation as well as hydrating. Their is also a Mega Mushroom mask that I use once a week I love it. You should look into it :)

If you are having a cosmetic allergic reaction check out this informative website that might help: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/mobileart.asp?articlekey=43004&page=1.

Basically you need to stop using all your cosmetics all together (moisturizers included) to let your skin heal itself and then introduce things back into your skin care routine slowly - stay away from irritating skin ingredients (you can analyze cosmetic ingredients on this website:cosdna.com) and it should get better - for now try not to put anything on your face that is not 100% organic - you can try to moisturize with pure jojoba oil after your face has settled down and see if that helps.

I agree with Diana T, thats why I recommended Egyptian Magic Cream. You can google all good & healing properties of each ingredient.

Since I thing it could be a plant related allergy, I think I should stay away from anything with pollen. I have thought it could be the african violets in my office and am going to try removing them from the room tomorrow. I ordered the First Aid Beauty cream, and it should be here by Tuesday. Thank you everyone for your help! I really appreciate it! I'm also going to look into seeing if my college has a dermatologist, or at least some kind of affordable allergy test they can do for me.

Of course anybody can be allergic to anything including natural things. And although some people can be allergic to honey (rare though) its usually due to the the pollen that the honey derives from. So if you're allergic to pollen, you should be cautious. In saying this, reading ingredient listings are so important, even on products that everyone recommends. And I agree that you need to make sure you do a patch test.

I'm not sure if I am allergic to pollen or not, but its a theory. Thank you for your recommendation Marleen! I should really start doing a patch test with everything I use!

You should definitely try First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair cream! Its going to be one of the safest things you can get without having to go to a dermatoligist. Also maybe look into an oil. Fresh Seaberry oil, Josie Maran Argan oil, or even Tarte maracuja oil are all going to give you deep hydration safely.
