I don't know anything about drugstore brand makeup, but I really like this site for "best of" lists when I'm looking to try something new. :)

If your tan like me I recommend investing in Mac makeup or a brand that'll have a makeup lady do your makeup because everytime I purchase drugstore foundation it's wayyyy off my skin color .

I use physician's formula talc free mineral powder foundation because my skin likes to break out. But everyone seems to love revlon colorstay. Just so you know, cvs has a 100% beauty guarantee. You can try a product for as long as you like. If it's not for you, just bring it back with the receipt. You'll get your full money back.

Revlon Colorstay and Photoready are Fab depending on what you're going for.
Colorstay has fabulous coverage, seriously. overall coverage goes to Colorstay, hands down.
Photoready has good coverage also, but the finish is a little glittery. Like there is an undertone of glitter in it. Which may or may not be your thing.
If you get Colorstay, the colour you get in Phoroready might have to be a shade lighter or darker than your colour in the Colorstay.
Sorry for this horrible reply, I'm kind of very much rushing and using the mobile app right now.
