I like using a raw brown sugar scrub because it is more "scrubing" you can use plain old white sugar it will be less abrasive though. I love using a sugan and olive oil scrub on my lips and on my legs because of how hydrating it is.

Do you have a Clarisonic face scrubber?

You can try using a facial brush, or chemical exfoliates.
I don't recommend abrasive type exfoliates like brown sugar, apricot scrubs, nutshells, etc. These do well for the skin on your body, not your face.
You are just damaging your skin very aggressively more than you will ever know :(
If you want to try sugar something very refined and round will do fine. Chemical exfoliants usually go deeper than a physical exfoliant. ( AHA, BHA, Salicylic Acid is an exfoliant as well. )
I recommend crushing up oatmeal in your blender and using wet as an exfoliant. If you are taking the proper steps to exfoliate then it may just be the products you are using that give that appearance.

Woah really Kitty?! The St. Ives apricot scub is my holy grail! It all started when I met this girl with the most amazing skin and she literally swore by it. That's great to know though can you recommend something better?

I use a brush from sephora and I feel like it does a good job and then by the time I have my makeup on my skin is all gross again!! Ugh!

I would invest in a Clarisonic face scrubber. My face sounds like it was just like yours but I go my Clarisonic and it has made all the difference. I have the plus which has 3 speeds and a t-timer but the single speed mia works wonders too. I use the mia just for traveling because I like how compact and small it is. My favorite face exfoliators I'm using right now are the Korres Rose Daily Brightning and refining Buff cleanser and First aids beautys facial radiance polish both are $24 a piece and I get the at Sephora.
