I'm not sure what category this would go in.
But anywas, next weekend I am getting my belly button pierced 😁😁 and I just want to know how bad it hurts and what I can do to keep it from getting infected or anything? And can wearing fake silver or gold belly rings make it easier to get infected. Also wear are some good places or websites to get belly rings 😊?

My belly piercing really hurt getting it done, but only for that split second. It didn't hurt after at all :) I chose to get it pierced with a plastic piercing because it's the least likely to cause infection. When I was able to start changing my belly piercing I put a fake silver one in and it got infected and really hurt and even bled (gross). I wouldn't use a fake silver/gold piercing until ages and ages after it's been pierced, and even then don't leave the fake piercing in for too long (only like one or two days) :)

To be honest when I got my belly pierced it did not hurt at all! It didn't even hurt afterwords just a little if I wanted to bend down but not painful at all
Just use the h2o spray it on... Leave it for ten mints... I got it done two months ago :)

It only hurt when putting the ring in. I had a ring that I wanted to use but the piercer said I had to use the one they had because it was sterile. The one I had wasn't sterile and many hands had touched it. Get you salt water from walmart (its like $7/$8) and spray it on the piercing while moving the piercing up and down. It healed within 3 months. I think wearing fake silver and gold can increase the chance of getting an infection. If you want to change your piercing before the wound is healed, I would suggest getting a gold piercing from Pagoda.

I got mine done a few years back and it barely hurt. I got a cleaner from the guy that did it,I think it was just a basic body wash. Didn't get infected at all, just don't touch it.

Yeah I agree make sure you clean it, either buy the disinfectant spray from wherever you get it pierced, or make your own with just warm water with salt in it

Don't get a plastic bar ever! Plastic is porous and just is never a good idea, instead go for titanium or medical grade steel.

Plastic is actually better than titanium, the professionals that pierced my belly explained that plastic is least likely to cause infection. It is more likely that someone will react to titanium. Myself and my friends had plastic and I've never heard if any problems with it

Bioplast is plastic :)

^ that's actually incorrect.. Any piercer I've ever gone to has advised against plastic bars, period; especially whilst healing, it's a breeding ground for bacteria and causes prolonged healing process.

My experience with my belly piercing was the Jewelry being the most painful part but it's over quickly and afterwards just feels a little bit weird. Your piercer will usually only pierce you with a standard titanium barbel and may give you a choice of pretty coloured gems in your belly bar. As for cleaning and that stuff, I used a salt saline solution to clean mine twice daily, try not to move your piecing too much when it's healing, that could cause it to reject so just be gentle with it for the first few months. Make sure the salt you use though isn't iodised (so not the type you'd generally put on your food) Don't go swimming In any chlorinated pools while it's healing. :)

Funny that the websites said plastic is best for first time piercing, perhaps different places just believe different things...? I only ever wear plastic and never had problems so it's not like it's any worse than any other piercing aha

Don't over clean your piercing or do salt cleans! It dried my skin on my navel area and my piercing looked gross. It never healed and alway hurt for like 4months, I finally just took it out. That was about a year ago...I have it redone and this time did not use salt and only washed it when I was in the shower. It only took 3 months to heal enough to where it didn't hurt at all and looked clean and not infected. DONT OVER CLEAN IT.

Mine didn't hurt at all! My piercer told me to use baby soap on it and it helped! I get mine at hot topic, and ardens!

I used saline solution. It didn't hurt me whatsoever and I have my Monroe and nose done.

You can't put plastic bars in an autoclave, so they can never properly be cleaned.

^ it should only be pierced with a needle anyways.

Jul 28, 2014

Shona S.

Yeah they always get pierced with a needle don't they?

Indeed :) a good piercing is one done with a needle lol.
